Re: Landscape 2013

canal rocks at dunsborough, wa Nice one AA. I've just looked at the location on Google Earth. We spent a week or so in the area and I somehow missed the Canal Rocks. Lots of shots of Sugarloaf Rock, and sunrise over the bay, even sunset shots off the coast at Wyadup Road, but no Canal Rocks :( rega...

Re: Cameracraft 3

Talking of viewpoints, I found the image on the back cover thought provoking and would give it a high rating. However, I would also point out to the artist that one should be aware of parallax errors when producing refections in Photoshop.

Re: Sony Alpha77 - first impressions

I use a Minolta 5800 flash, and it works OK. However, not once but twice (can you believe ! ! !) I have been unable to set it to wireless, searching endlessly through the menus. Wireless can only be set through the Fn button! I shoot only RAW and so set up the in-camera JPG options (Fn - Creative St...

Re: Sony Alpha77 - first impressions

Not sure what benefit, other than optical control of lenses I don't have, Ver 1.07 will bring. According to Gary Friedman Ver 1.07 improved flash auto exposure. Can't say I've noticed this myself, but I don't do much flash work and what I do is normally in manual mode to balance light sources. http...

Re: Sony Alpha77 - first impressions

I had taken a few test images but they are now all gone for whilst adjusting viewfinder dioptre setting I occidentally nudged the Movie button (gout in right index finger does not help) and noticed Recording pop up. Hi Lionel One of the firmware updates cured the problem of accidentally pressing th...

Re: Sony Alpha77 - first impressions

Hi Lionel I went from the Dynax 7D to the A77 and found it an extremely frustrating experience (I posted some mainly negative comments on this forum). However, having changed my whole way of working to suit the A77 I think that I would find it frustrating to go back to the D7D. Today the biggest ann...

Re: A77, Lightroom and Win XP

I may have found the solution to my Lightroom problem by finding a copy of LR3 at everyone's favourite Internet shopping site. Advertised as Lightroom 3.0 so if the upgrade link in the software plays ball I should be OK. It should do seeing as Lightroom 2 'Check for updates' still offers me one upd...

F11 Magazine

For some time now I have been a subscriber to F11 Magazine (http://www.f11magazine.com/site/). This is a free e-publication and generally well worth the read. I haven't seen it mentioned on this forum previously - some of you may be interested.

Re: Landscape 2013

Nice long exposure Peter. It seems foggy on the water. Is this due to the long exposure? Mark It wasn't really fog - more like spray from the waves. The long exposure seems to have emphsized it. The sky was a bit greyish but had some blue in it. I decided not to pull down the blue (in B&W), pre...
