I like all these portraits. Anne, you did it again. I think you have an eye for these. Ther is no doubt that the window light is lovely and the pensive mood is suite to the monochrome treatment. That is a great shot of your cousin Dusty and I like the first of your pics Sury.
Cheers,
Bob

Re: Portrait, June, 2012
I love the way the first shot is composed offset. Her right eye is right in the centre horizontally and more or less on the third vertically so the sense of eye contact is very strong. The soft light and skin tones are lovely. And as for those blue eyes, I wish I was young again! The second shot doe...

David, I can't wait to see it. As you are obviously going to be severely constrained by the budget, at least at first, I think that I would give the new printers a try. If the quality is a bit lower than your usual (which admittedly was always excellent) I am sure that the readers will forgive you. ...

I have done a few portraits but that doesn't make me an expert. Bearing that in mind here goes. The one of your daughter catches her in pensive mood. I like the tight composition but we cannot see her eyes which is unusual in a portrait. It's not too sharp. I like the one of your wife better. The til...

Almazar,
I respect you for that. If we all thought the same way what a boring life it would be.
Cheers,
Bob

Re: Anyone had an A700 converted for IR?
Dave, Yes, it does sound like the x pro1 is suffering from a variation of the hot spot problem. As far as I am aware hot spots were never seen on film for any lens. It seems to be something that only occurs with sensors and certain lenses. I have used minolta 20-35mm, 24-35mm and 50mm lenses with Ko...

Re: The Polariser and the wide angle lens
Sorry about this very late reply but if you are still wondering what to do here are my thoughts. If you are talking about anything wider than 24mm full frame, 16mm APSC, a polariser is of limited use. It will give more saturated foliage colours in sunlight and cut reflections in water but you will f...

David, please tell us more about Cameracraft
I know that David K has, over the years, produced some of the best photographic magazines in the UK. At one time he had a self published mag available in the news stores but it was too good. I am sure that you know what I mean. Most photographic mags are not aimed at real enthusiasts. So I expect Ca...

Great monkey story and I love the monkey with the bottle. Also snake and Flamingo and tiger etc. Funny how something so cuddly looking can eat you for breakfast.

Re: Images from Grand Teton National Park
Oi! stop posting these gorgeous landscapes. You are making me jealous. IMHO landscape does not necesarily have to be 'realistic'. When we take a picture we don't want it to show what the camera saw, we want it to show what we saw, which is quite a different thing. In any case once you have cho...

I like Waterfall in Mamouth Hot Springs and Colors of the Rainbow best but Waterfall is spoilt by the foreground branches. I actually like the crop as it is. It would take a little time but I think those branches could be cloned out in Photoshop or Elements without too much trouble, leaving you with...

What beautiful cars. Where I live in England there are quite a few car museums as Coventry and Birmingham were the centre of the car industry, but I don't know of any Packards. Most of our cars were a bit smaller!

I love humour in photographs, probably because I can't do it. You thought of making a sequence and made am excellent job of it. Hawaii - please send any cash that you have to my address so I can go there.
