Re: Future of A mount

I'm not in the market for the A99 II as the A7r and A7r II are more than enough. But in the future I would like to add a A99 style A mount FF digital camera to my collection to supplement my A68 and my three film model 7 cameras. Three may see excessive but I have added two extra bodies out of Japan...

Re: Future of A mount

Sorry I was referring to the A99 II.

But if they are having problems supplying the high end cameras then I think this would put back the release of the A77 III or the rumoured A88 24MB version of the A99 II.

Re: Future of A mount

And looking at the Sony Australia website as well as some of the local dealers it's still on back order.

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

The A99 II being a single A mount FF camera is exposed to being considered not really a long term proposition however good it may be. However much it would eat into other sales, Sony probably need to support it with a second FF camera at least. In the short term a cheaper A99 with a 24 sensor would ...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

I may be one of those who are tending towards the " elderly gentlemen " status these days. But I am quite happy to cart around a Nikon F6 or the Canon EOS 1v when required. And for my basic setup with the 16-35 / 4, 24-70 / 4 and 70-200 /4 together with the 21,35 and 90 when they are more ...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

It's one thing to have a corporate look for the FF E mount cameras, but for the life of me I can't understand for a pro camera which will be expected to take long and heavy lenses that something more like the A99 body wasn't used.

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....

In terms of what the A9 offers in comparison with Canon and Nikon then it will be more for less. But is still more than I will pay, so it is a matter of how long it will take for the technologies to trickle down to cameras for the rest of us. It appears to be impressive for a particular market, and ...

Re: Sony A-99 11

I use both EVF and OVF and it's kind of funny, when I'm using even a top of the range OVF I'm aware that I haven't got all the goodies that a decent EVF provides me with, and vice versa with the EVF I'm aware that I haven't got that last bit of clarity I have with the OVF. At the same time as I get ...

Re: Sony A-99 11

My last Nikon APS camera was the D90, which lasted somewhat less than 6 months. But even so I think I gave it a decent chance to appeal to me. What it did well was pretty good, but the things that Nikon had so obviously debased in performance and tweeking options really annoyed me. It seems that Nik...

Re: Sony A-99 11

I do think that classic camera is over gilding the lily with his comments about Sony, because I can easily find the same criticisms not only about Canon and Nikon but about Olympus and Fujifilm as well. It is just a matter of accepting the compromised offerings that best suit you. It is very frustra...

Re: Sony A-99 11

You probably have as much choice now as there has been for some years. To my mind if you are one of those who are the Leica type then you can buy a Fuji X-T2 and 2,3,4 primes or the 10-24 zoom for a lot less money. Or in m43 you can get the Olympus Mark1 16 MP with a 12-40 zoom for two thirds the pr...

Re: Sony A-99 11

Some have moved, some have added Sony to their equipment list and many of the true believers will die with their Canon or Nikon in their hands as you can't go to Valhalla without it. Those that the dementia ward at the local care facility doesn't get first ! It is really up to Sony to keep up the ru...

Re: Sony A-99 11

Imaging Resource summary on the A99 II is now published. One thing I have noticed is that the IR published photos for most reviews seem to be a lot more real world to me than some I could mention. The same criticism goes for Photo Zone lens reviews, too many what I consider to be simple snaps that d...

Re: Sony a77II discontinued

I probably should have said that my usual A68 kit is made up of the 16-50 / 2.8 and the Sigma 50-150 Series 1 zoom. Never say never but I can't see myself adding to my Sigma collection any time soon. The 18-35 is a very nice lens but I just can't make a case for buying it. Well not without Sigma mak...

Re: Sony a77II discontinued

I purchased the A68 because of the difference in price with the A77 II. I can't say that there are or are not any differences in sensor, but the rear LCD doesn't matter to me as I use the EVF for composition with this camera. In the short time I have had the camera I've had no problems and the handl...
