Re: Flowers 2013
Very, very close-up bees Lionel - almost makes me take a step back from the computer :) . Thanks Birma and they are good viewed printed on canvas using an A3+ printer at maximum size - i.e. shortest side at the 18 inch maximum. Thanks Marcell, I have a few others of this obliging, considering my fr...

Re: Flowers 2013
For all those non-flash believers, here is a soft flowery shot made possible by use of a flash :-) Indeed, flash does not always have to yield a harsh result and then it depends upon the picture's intent, an artistic moody shot or detail in the subject. When taking pictures of small insects if deta...

Re: Signed up awhile ago, but didn't introduce myself
I assume you are talking about the Kodak Brownie Hawkeye that uses 620 film. http://www.brownie-camera.com/27.shtml No it isn't that one it was a Brownie 127 as described here, seeing as I was given it about 1958 it would be the 1956-1959 model http://www.brownie-camera.com/6.shtml . Indeed I remem...

Now one of those was being considered for my shopping, although a MkII version has just been introduced and I think there is a supply issue in the UK.

Re: Sony Alpha77 - first impressions
Did you try connecting your camera with card inserted to your computer. This should give an idea if XP or the reader doesn't support the card. Mark Yes I have thought of that but my only set of batteries are now on the charger so I'll try when they are cooked. I have been waiting for more battery p...

I agree with Mike Sury, Those airshow pic's are spot on. Sigma 200-500 strewth is that one of these http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.kenrockwell.com/sigma/images/200-500mm/D3R_4567-460.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.kenrockwell.com/sigma/200-500mm.htm&h=300&w=460&sz=22&...

Re: Rapid deployment monopod (Manfrotto Neotec)
It makes life easier for the developing arthritis in my right hand. I can empathize. Monopods have been a direction in which I have been moving. I have a Manfrotto tripod but it is now too heavy to carry, even a moderate sized bag of cameras and lenses brings on excruciating agony after awhile maki...

Re: Sony Alpha77 - first impressions
Thank you for your replies. I have been doing some digging and found that hama have different versions of what looks like the same card reader some which have this under description: 'microSDHC: Yes, with Adapter' or others with 'microSDHC: Yes'. The model number of mine is 00055312 which is way low...

Thanks for the reply Mark.
Yes it is a blue card reader.
The card is a SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I Card 8GB, I also have a similar 16GB card not used as yet.

Re: Sony Alpha77 - first impressions
Uh! Oh! Having taken a number of testing shots I came to downloading to the PC running Windows XP (Service Pack 3 of course) using my hama USB 2.0 Card Reader 35 in 1. When plugged in the PC sees all the drives but any attempt to click on one produces a request to Insert a card. Is it Windows or the...

I'm sure I saw the T8 somewhere but can't remember where. It had the Sea Harrier FRS1 pointy nose? Mike There were three modified to T8M standard, XL580 which was once painted in that loverly blue colour (I worked on this one to, and at different periods separated by Sea Vixens and then Phantoms) w...

Re: Blast from the past
Nice one Sury. Now another blast from 1974 a Hawker Hunter GA11 WT809. This was taken using a Minolta SRT101 + 28mm Rokkor f3.5 by available light - problematic as the subject was more strongly backlit. Hand held with an aircraft jack (like that yellow one behind the port wing) for a bit of support....
