Re: Helping Friends with Short Art Films

Here are some photos from the night scene in the cemetery (Ashlock visiting his wife’s grave). This scene was shot last winter over two weekends. The temperature was below freezing, and the one actor in this scene had to spend every night in the cold without a coat. Poor guy. There were only four o...

Re: Why it's time to move away from Lightroom

I've been using Raw Therapee for several years, and am also looking at all the other freeware out there. Since I usually don't do any heavy editing, it's not a problem for me. I like to capture images that I believe are true to what I see, but that doesn't mean I won't tweak color or white balance i...

Re: Is The Digital Tele-Converter Feature Worthwhile?

Sorry I took so long to reply, Henry. I've been off the board for a month. First the buy-out of our company, then the vacation.... My longest lens in A mount is a 300, and I have a t-mount 400 or 500, don't recall which. With the 1.5 crop of APS-C, longest I can go is either 600 or 750 efl. I rarely...

Re: Macros from Meadowlark

It's nice to have a lens that motivates one to get off the couch and shoot. You have a gem in this one. JB, I don't know about you but for me the lens that usually gets me motivated to shoot is the 'new' one, even if it's one I dug out of the closet where I stored it after tiring of it some time be...

Re: My GF7 in IR

Thank you Yildiz for your encouragement. Yesterday I realized that I have not used my A900 at all in 2017. That made me wonder if I need another body. 42MP sounds so tempting. Sury I think the proper response to that problem is to see if another PCA member needs an A900. I can think of at lea...

Re: Is The Digital Tele-Converter Feature Worthwhile?

I discovered something else today. Not unexpected, but good to know in any case. Olympus meters using the zoomed in DTC portion, not the whole frame. The one advantage of DTC. The disadvantage being that you don't get to play around with cropping formats, or different development algorithms outside...

Sury, Sorry to hear of your loss and other problems, but I'm glad that things are turning around for you. I've been away myself for various reasons, but NOT because of problems in my life - really just the opposite as I pursue the possibilities of new direction. I'll be praying for you and your fami...

Re: Weather Today-In Your Vicinity/2017

Thanks David. And Sury, I think you're absolutely correct about my mind. :D I thought I lost my mind. I went outside and thought it was 80F, and this being February, I knew that couldn't be true. It was only 78F/26C. :D Of course, not it's getting colder. It's already down to 75F/24C. :P Dusty

Pretty cool for something that old to still be that accurate!

I would seem that they could add an electric winder very easily these days.

Not really formal portraits, and taken with my 8 year old on my back, thru the Tamron 70-300. I wish I'd had a longer lens.

Re: recent meals in Peru

We have a problem with sheep's head, but not pig's butt? (Ham).

Here in St. Louis, brain sandwich's (cow's brain) are a local favorite. I never ate one on the advise of my cousin, but my uncle's bar supposedly had some of the best.

Re: Turkey trip photos

I would think that they can go forward quite a bit, but superpower? It takes more than a big economy for that. Where does Turkey get it's equipment from? I know it makes some, but mostly has other counties re-treads. They still have F4 Phantoms on active duty! The majority of their tanks are M48/M60...

Good shots JB.

That building looks like the Jewel Box in Forrest Park, created for the 1904 Wold's Fair. I need to visit it again this year, thanks for reminding me.
