Re: Sony quality control problems
Doesn't matter Sony just repaird my 1 year out of warranty flash shoe for free.. and in less than 10 days to boot. all you have to do is ask and most of the time they try an accomodate you. not like some who break things then don't try and get it repaired.. and still complain. I had to pay for the s...

Re: Myth busting the Ratio flash debate
I wonder if they could monitor a few pixels or groups of pixels here and there to preform the same function as the OTF sensor did?.
There ya go Sony... change all the flases and protpocols again!!

Re: Peaking
well illustrated. I got to use Sony's new screen on my A700 when I was using my bellows. it can only show peaking after the shot is taken but it's hugely usefull tool for macro. especially in high magnification shots and such a shallow DOF. the direction the DOF extends is unpredictable and it's ver...

Re: So no manual focus peaking for a55?
The only reason I think the signal for the screen needs to be HD is their add on screen features peaking and that function won't work unless it can get an HD feed from the camera. in all other modes it doesn't work

Re: So no manual focus peaking for a55?
I think they do have focus confirm. peaking to Sony is a little different. the LCD will show blinkies on sharp parts of the picture. it's fun to see the whole DOF laid out on the screen for you. I think it takes a very high resolution feed for the monitor though for it to work. and some cameras migh...

Re: Read this and weep - Pentax GPS + more
Yes thats the dark frame. a lot of photographers learned to do it manually because their cameras didn;t do it automatically. doing it yourself has the advantage of not locking up the camera for a period equal to the exposure but letting the camera do it is more accurate because the conditions and as...

Re: Read this and weep - Pentax GPS + more
Actually your camera will do it itself automatically Sony calles it long exposure nise reduction and it does shoot a black frame of the same length exposure. it won't affect anything in the picture that is really there. it will just remove noise and hot pixels that would crop up when leaving the sen...

subtracting a dark frame would still work to get the noise out i think

Re: Read this and weep - Pentax GPS + more
a lot of the time when your shooting star fields the photographers are shooting multiple exposures and stacking thats why theres not a lot of exposure info around. this is the way most beat the noise generated from long exposures

Re: Read this and weep - Pentax GPS + more
looked in the specs and it depends on the declination and focal length but the chart they give indicates 5 minutes at 200mm but i'm not sure if thats a maximum tracking time or what? with their noise preformance is that enough for some of the deep space objects ? but again the specs only mention 200...

Re: Read this and weep - Pentax GPS + more
it's an interesting feature but I wonder if it really works. how long an exposure can it take? most objects are out of the frame completey in a short time and would this really work on a telescope or only on a long pentax zoom?

Slide adaptor for Bellows 1
I've been using a bellows1 with my cameras for a long time. I bought it used a and it cqame with a slide adaptor. has anyone ever tried the slide adaptor with APS-C? I thought I would try this for the first time last night instead of scanning some slides and of course with the crop camera and a 50mm...
