Re: Mirrorless rumours

With all this recent conjecture about the future of 'A' mount, I even considered going back to my first digital system a Olympus E-510 2 lens kit plus a 14-54 high end zoom. I bought these in 2007 and still treasure them, superb metering, superb AF and the best Jpegs in the business, However, going ...

Re: Canon G15: Some thoughts on my new camera

Its interesting to note the difference in Jpeg performance of the X10 and X20. Look at DPreviews final summery bar scale between the 2 cameras. The X20 RAW performance soars ahead of the X10, but the X10 maintains a considerable lead in Jpegs rivalling and bettering some DSLR's. I think I will stay ...

Re: The a mount is going mirrorless according to SAR

I couldn't resist a bargain when I see it, an almost new in showroom condition A57. Owner part exchanged it for the new A58 after only 9 Months. He can't be that fussy then. I negotiated for body only and they agreed for £289. Wow.

Re: Mirrorless rumours

To answer an earlier comment, I don't think Sony can compete with the big 2 or in fact do they want to, possibly on camera performance but not on sales. There is now so much lost ground between Sony and the others that it is an impossible task trying to catch up, if they tried it would be a futile a...

Re: Mirrorless rumours

The EVF didn't put people off buying the Panasonic G series cameras, although sales figures are patchy depending on what part of the world you live in, that system was the biggest seller in Japan, some other far East countries and the UK. The US is still heavily glued to the DSLR. I have to admit I ...

Re: Mirrorless rumours

Nikon certainly didn't give you an opportunity to use legacy Nikkor lenses on their DX cameras, big mistake in my view. I had a Zeiss Planar 50-mm F/1.8 on my Rollieflex SL35 and it was superb, but Canon and Minolta with their FD and Rokkor glass would certainly challenge top spot as they did many t...

Re: RX1 Bargains on ebay

I bought a Sigma 17-70 from onestopdigital a couple of years ago, I think I waited about 10 days, but it arrived neatly packaged and no damage. After about 6 days I E mailed them for a progress report but they never answered which was worrying at the time. They never had a tracker so you have to wai...

Re: The a mount is going mirrorless according to SAR

Don't forget that Sony are the largest share holder in Olympus, so there is a possibility that some of their technology could cross over. At the moment, Fuji seem to be leading the way with their X camera sensors, and I think there are more exciting things to come from that company. As for mirrorles...

Re: The a mount is going mirrorless according to SAR

I think Sony have always seen themselves as a cut above the rest, a sort of exclusiveness if you like in the market place, and this is fairly evident with their [franchised] stores in most towns high streets. The Selfridges of the electronic media world, but its come back to bite them in a big way. ...

Re: The a mount is going mirrorless according to SAR

I have always wanted to know why did Sony move over to SLT, was it because they couldn't compete with Canikon OVF or was it to make the cameras smaller, more compact and lighter.
I'm not anti SLT and acctually quite like it.

Has any body tried telling Sony [UK/Europe] that we are not impressed with what they are doing or more to the point what they are not doing, and lay out the salient points to them.

Re: Canon G15: Some thoughts on my new camera

I'm impressed with the image quality and Dynamic range. Colours look good as well. Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't this the Canon compact with a 4thirds sensor or there abouts?

Re: The a mount is going mirrorless according to SAR

Barry That's cheaper than my local dealer who is selling one for £385 + 6 Months warranty. I had a close look today and it is in showroom condition, the mirror looks spotles and at F-22 there are a couple of dust specs which need cleaning off. That would have to be done before I bought it. I'm not a...

Re: The a mount is going mirrorless according to SAR

Just on a different note for the moment, my Local camera shop has a used A580 in mint condition for £385, should I get it and is there a way of finding out how many actuations it has done. Also are there any points I should look for. they are offering a 6 Month warrenty, tempting.

Re: Ken Rockwell - A99

What review sites do you respect or at least trust in your evaluations. DPReviews have a good reputation but are known for making mountains out of Mole hills on minor stuff. I used to like Camera Labs but they are always out of date and lagging behind other sites, and they seem to have given up on P...
