Wedding as a guest
We'll be guests on a wedding on Saturday and it's actually the first time I'll go with a DSLR. I will just make some shots for myself but share with the hosts if they're good. If not, I just dump them silently 8) Now am I right there will be not much time for changing lenses? Am I also right to thin...

Re: Which is best ARW/RAW converter for Alpha 100?
DxO Optics Pro is now in version 5.2, offers much improved support and better high ISO. I am working on the review now covering A100, A350, A700. Are you still working on this? 8) I've been trying ACR4.5 with PSE and IDC and find both clumsy to use, plus IDC is very slow (might need a new PC anyway...

Re: Rationalising my lenses
To continue my public thought processes, I'll stress that the 16-80CZ, while possibly desirable, is out of my budget. The 16-105 Sony may be in my budget but the reported softness worries me a bit, while I'm not sure I'd be willing to give up the speed of my existing set up. I wouldn't buy the 16-1...

Re: A900 is 2490 euros? See link.
No, the Sony France/Europe prices are actually like 1Euro=1$ and sometimes even worse. Some lenses here cost more Euros than dollars.Greg Beetham wrote:Wow, that would make it about $4000 for the body here...Greg
So if 2500 Euro is true, I'd expect $2300-$2500 max in the US (plus tax).

So that's the final proof that the 'A900' is weather sealed - a presentation in Edinburgh!

I am UK press not Euro press :-)
So it is true - UK people don't consider them to be European On the other hand, we europeans say 'the english' when we really mean the british It's hard to get it right for everybody.
Anyway, why would Sony make an event in Edingourgh and not invite the british press?

Re: DRO advanced question
Thanks David this answers my question. So my test was doomed from the beginning. I was watching the shutter speed, which doesn't change. Because in fact DRO+ uses the ISO to alter the exposure, and without showing this anywhere!

Re: LCD Protect Cover for A700
Got my Caru, it feels quite solid, not "wobbly" 8) (is that english?). Cleaned my LCD and put it on, it's invisible! No air bubbles below, but that's not amazing. it's actually not like a very thin film, but a bit thick, but not too much. I think it will not fall off. Does it really protec...

DRO advanced question
I have just reread the DRO article on this site. Now that I have an A700  I wanted to test how DRO advanced underexposes. It's written somewhere that e.g. instead of shooting ISO800 w/o DRO I could shoot ISO400 with DRO since DRO will underexpose and give me the same (or similar) shutterspe...

Re: LCD Protect Cover for A700
I never used an LCD protector on my KM5D and after 2.5 years the display is as new. Anyway, since people keep saying the A700 display is so sensitive, I ordered one for it. My research revealed some prefer the hardcover and some a film. Ordered a film, should get in a day or two. See here, scroll do...
