Re: A900 programming your lenses
...some very good Sony Alpha clothing - a really expensive all-weather jacket, a baseball cap, a neat folding umbrella, and a plastic raincape in a pocket pack. Sigh - I used to get all these things from my employers, in the golden startup times. Now I am with some company for 4 years and I got a s...

Re: I am so sorry!
Thanks Aster and Dr Harout! Btw the first pic is witout flash and it's not lazy-eye!! With hindsight, I should increase the contrast on the 3rd one. It was should under difficult lightening conditions (me outside in the sun, they inside in the dark). I had postprocessed the full pic concerning expos...

Whaaatt? No scene modes and I can't use my 18-70? That's a deal breaker! (And I don't even ask for smile detection )David Kilpatrick wrote:I have bad news for you - the DT lenses can not be reliably used ...
Thanks for your continous flow of information, looking forward to hearing more!

First I bored you to death with my "wedding as a guest" thread and now I have to interrupt the V4 and A900 discussions just to post some silly pics of the beforementioned wedding 8) Enjoy! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3265/2845784453_eb3e7b2454_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3102/2...

Re: Sigma 10-20 Questions
The Sigma 10-20 has it's limitations, but if there is enough light to stop down, it's a fun lens: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2155/2283942549_0c725bdd48_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2134/2190090098_3e7509b378.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2148/2185264137_7de2dcef12_o.jpg http://farm3...

Re: SONY A900 vs NIKON D700 @ ISO 1600
I'd say thats looking very good! Also to consider, I read somewhere (for the D300) that for the same ISO/F-Stop/EV Value the Nikon chooses a slower shutter time to avoid noise in the shadows. Do you have the exif for these two shots?

Re: A900 DPR Preview.
Now that everybody is moving to using the back LCD for the settings, even DPReview acks that the the top LCD is less important (It was more important when only CN had it).
Anyway, I found the preview very positive and didn't really put too much weight into the top-LCD comments!

New A900 noise?
Well, honestly, I have been looking at high ISO pics all yesterday evening before/after installing V4, so I am used to seeing green and pink dots now  Today I see the A900 pics and say, wow, that's really good for a 24mpix camera (before I read any other comments)! I approached this with a ...

Re: Firmware v04 for Sony Alpha 700
I installed V4 yesterday on a french A700 with english language and german operator, no problems! The new noise structure is much better! I did some before/after shots at ISO 1600-6400 and the blobs are gone. Also, the new pics clean up much nicer, be it in ACR or the camera JPGs. ISO 1600 gets a ne...

Got my cashback today!
6 weeks after buying, was already getting nervous. But now I got my 150 Euro You can now get the A700 here for 765 Euro after cashback, thats a top price for France (via amazon). Happy I waited for prices to come down rather than to jump on the A2/300 wagon.
