Re: which software
Many of the recent posts are indeed highly relevant for the mid to high end photo enthusiast, BUT for everyone of them there are many what I will describe as photo hobbyists. They may have an A 200 or even a A 350 bought with one of the kit offerings, have to compete with other family members over t...

Re: which software
There are whole group of programs costing from say USD 100 to USD 500 which go beyond ACR or Elements, all of which offer 30 day trials. But take care about trying too many of them at the same time, you will just keep going around in ever confused circles. There is Adobe Lightroom, Apple Aperture (M...

Re: which software
I am assuming that you have a Windows PC and not an Apple Mac. And that the PC is a general purpose machine and not one of the souped up gaming machines. For all your likely needs for years to come then Adobe Photoshop Elements is a good choice as it regularly upgraded, has good performance without ...

Sonolta, Thank you as there is one on offer that I was reluctant to consider for lack of knowledge about the sensor on these cameras.
Will now look at the camera with some confidence.

Fella's I think this conversation may be heading off track.
Back to big and well stacked lenses and their application to wildlife please.

I would also like a high end bridge camera along the lines of the old 7 / A200 although for different reasons to Sonata. I'm 55 at the end of September 2009 and intend to retire to do some serious traveling. And as David pointed out in his review of the Sony 70 - 300 G when you start assembling the ...

Re: 100-300 APO
It is a good shot of the MiG 17 giving a very nice feel to the aircraft. But I must admit that every time I look at the shot my fingers itch airbrush out the F/A 18 in the background. Without turning this into a Boys Own commentary on the MiG design bureau, the easiest way to tell that it's a 17 not...

Re: sony vs tamron 18-250
Sonolta wrote about whether to choose Sony or Tamron. All I will say is Yes I do prefer the same look Yes I do prefer the same feel Yes I do prefer the same direction in manual focus, especially as I use mf most of the time except for street shooting and sport. Saving a couple of dollars just doesn'...

Female Contributors ?
I know that I can't tell by your log - ins and even the one's with photographs cannot be taken at face value, but how many female photographers are there contributing ? Lens Lore with it's " male geek attempting attitude " at times may not appeal to genteel lady photographers, but most of ...

To David on his comment on South Africa and to anyone with an interest in Media Studies, I will say that how the world press examine and expose South Africa at the 2010 World Soccer Finals will be very interesting.

Re: Rumours
Minolta / Sony users are so much like the Apple Mac faithful when two or more are gathered together. I am a member of both camps of many years standing. When it comes to discussing the near mythical A800 and the A700i if you are following the old Minolta protocols, I think that you need to think abo...

Re: Another Australian
I have " wear and tear " arthritis in my hands, although in general this does not make for much of a problem with mounting lenses on cameras or on a tripod. But makes it funny to watch me attempting to unseal a pressure sealed glass jar. It also does make me more aware of the weight and ba...

I'm Peter Ottaway and am from Northam in Western Australia which was named after Northam in Devon and is some 100 km west of the state capital and only major city of Perth. Which was named by the founding governor James Stirling after Sir George Murray, the Secretary of State for Colonies at the tim...

Re: Lens price
Call them Sony G or C Z, my main concern is that Sony puts adequate cattle in the market at similar prices that Nikon and Canon charge. They don't have to match them lens for lens and mm for mm, after all just look at how many Canon 70 - 200 are on offer. But to be taken seriously Sony does need to ...
