Re: Exhibit Portrait shots

Here is an image of my daughter-in-law that I took last week, on the 4th of July. By chance, the occasion was that we had gathered the entire family together for multi-generational group photos by a professional photographer. This is one of the images that I shot while we were there. - Tom - Great ...

Re: The A900 still has it....

Wow! What vivid colors in that beautiful landscape. Thanks for sharing! Bryce Canyon is a photographer's paradise. Stand in the same spot and the colors will change constantly as the light changes with clouds in the sky and motion of the sun. It's only a three hour drive from the North Rim of Grand...

Re: Photos with evidence of the photographer

This is actually an older shot, taken last year when I was experimenting with older manual focus lenses on my NEX-6. In this case the lens was a Russian Jupiter 9 (85mm) lens I happened to be looking back through these photos today, and suddenly realized that this happens to be an image that qualif...

Re: The Great Mirrorless Camera Autofocus Shootout

When I go to an event, lets say, a concert or so, I don't usually take pictures. And, if i finally do it, it will be by the end. Because I don't enjoy the event through the camera. I do work through the camera, it is a filter, or a shield, that protect me from the whole experience -but if I'm at a ...

Re: The Great Mirrorless Camera Autofocus Shootout

Those mirrorless thingies are definitely getting better, but how competitive would they be when the light level goes south? Greg Personally, I have found that when the light level gets quite low I prefer my NEX-6 to my A700. It automatically boosts the brightness of the viewfinder image and makes i...

Re: A temporary solution to GPS

I believe my iPhone has the same ability but I don't always have it with me and often keep it switched off entirely when roaming - abroad - because of costs. Good point! I have not traveled outside the US since I got a phone that contains a GPS, so I forgot about the potential issue of roaming char...

Re: A temporary solution to GPS

Although this GPS module is very simple and now 5 year old tech, it did what my A99/55/77 can not do and got a fix inside my house. I'll still hope for a Multi Function Accessory Shoe GPS and firmware updates to use it, but this it about to make my travel kit as small and light as you can imagine. ...

Re: Exhibit Portrait shots

Neither of these images was really intended as a portrait shot, but I'll put them here anyway. The Arizona youth symphony in which my older granddaughter plays came to SoCal this weekend to perform in two separate music festivals - and to spend a day at Disneyland. :-) When my granddaughter got off...

California Shopping

My son's wife works at a women's boutique store in a multi-level enclosed shopping mall a few miles from us, and I often drive her to work or pick her up on the weekend. A few weeks ago, I happened to get there about 45 minutes before she was scheduled to get off work, and decided to pass the time ...

Re: Point Cabrillo LIght House

Nice shots Tom, and I especially like that last one - great perspective. :) Thank you. It's one of my favorites also. It's one of the rare cases where I actually planned a shot instead of just recognizing it in front of me. I saw the ship heading out of San Diego Harbor when I was standing at the C...

Re: Point Cabrillo LIght House

To play games with names, here are some additional photos of a Cabrillo Lighthouse on the coast of California. However, these photos - which I took in 2009 with my A700 - are not from Point Cabrillo, but from Point Loma, at San Diego Harbor and about 400 miles south of Point Cabrillo. Why do I call...

It's not a problem.

However, your statement did give me an excuse to mess with your Point Cabrillo thread.

While Mom is shopping at the mall

This image was captured last weekend at a local shopping mall. I had gone to the mall with the goal of capturing some images of the architecture and lighting inside the mall., which I happen to find rather interesting. I saw this scene and could not resist a very, very quick shot. It was probably t...
