Brilliant Pat, I was hoping someone would have some Mersey ferry shots :) The new QE (2 or 3? :) ) does look enormous. I'm not an expert on ship design but I'd prefer something that didn't look so top heavy  . My husband is a 'Scouser' and as it's only 20 odd miles away we sometimes go there...

Re: Lighthouses (again!)
Wow! You should be on the Scottish tourist board :D Lovely stuff. I especially like the first with the beautiful backdrop of mountains. Mine are not so far flung as this - Three views of the lighthouse at Whitehaven, Cumbria. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8194/8124517657_df736de9df_c.jpg http://farm...

" ... and always take me there, the place I love." Thanks for the title inspiration of this thread. From “Ferry ‘cross the Mersey” – not one of my favourites from the 60s but here is that Very Same Ferry !! :D Mooring before the passengers (now mainly tourists) disembark. http://farm9.sta...

Re: Exhibit Portrait shots
Just had a catch up! How nice to see friends and family here, too. I particularly like Dr Harout's 'smoking 50s Gumshoe' self portrait! And the happy Hindu lady! Too many to mention individually. I have been absent for various reasons. One was my OH had a big trip to Africa and the preparations took...

Re: Exhibit Portrait shots
Excellent shot, Pat. Contrast, Lighting etc are all fantastic. Just one question: since it's a set up, why didn't you make the girl look the other way round? (Look to the right, instead of the opposite?). It was a conceptually led shot. The girl is 'sinister' ie facing left. Is there any reason why...

Re: Exhibit Portrait shots
Thanks, Birma! I don't often do B/W conversions but this one was begging for it with the high contrast lighting. I love the light gradient from top to bottom. I presume that was by design. I am curious if the decorative beads on her face are just that or have some symbolism. With best regards, Sury...

Re: Model shoot
OH and I went on one of these shoots last year - it's a good chance to get some practice in, although most tend to be outside or with basic lighting gear. Also - we noticed that there seemed to be an element of men that went who wanted to shoot 'glamour'. Fine, if they want to and they don't tread o...

Nice to see street photography as well as studio stuff! Here's a set up studio shot using an octobox, beauty dish and snoot, from a few weeks ago. Virtually no post processing except for a couple of tweaks/clean up/B/W conversion. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8095/8511363758_9b46c521d4_o.jpg Pat

Re: Dr. Seuss
What a wonderful man he was! Childrens books I could enjoy as well.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
I'm glad they have such good memorials, besides the legacy of his timeless books.
