Re: New DSLR with Exmor R CMOS sensor

For that to work, you need you 30kHz movement to be on top of the travel of the sensor, which wouldn't be that easy, but more importantly you would have to figure out what the linear SSM motors can do. A quick search says they can do upwards of 5MHz. But that's apparently the traveling wave, how fas...

Re: New DSLR with Exmor R CMOS sensor

Give me a break, did you really need to respond to my comment where I stated it looks like it had been changed just to repeat what I had all ready said? What I said is not insulting. I'm commenting on the insanity that one person finds this advert, the next thing we know the whole world of camera fo...

Re: A good afternoon

I stand corrected.

I looked and the one at work is dual mode, ISO216 and 8.5x11. Does up to A4. Made by X-ACTO. So finding a ISO216 one is possible here. Of course my preference is for things to have no acknowledgement of english units.

Re: New DSLR with Exmor R CMOS sensor

Finally, the first thread I have found on any of the 3 forums that someone stopped the madness and pointed out the advert doesn't say "R" in it anywhere. I'm getting the impression it may have said it at one point in time. But clearly someone who typed it up just made a mistake. People rea...

Re: A good afternoon

Hey, China tried to get back in the game with all the lead paint toys.

Good news was they were trying. Bad news is lead just causes neurological damage, which is a bad outcome.

BRING BACK LAWN DARTS!

(I had lawn darts and were never injured, and boy did we try).

Re: A good afternoon

It all depends on where you grew up. I was a boy from the sticks. I didn't graduate HS that all long ago (though now into the double digits). We had the big dangerous paper slicers you speak of all over. They were around in college too. And they are all around at work. They are still common. I could...

Re: Annoying Ads on DK's Articles

Makes me think of one of the worst kind of websites. Those ones who make pages of nothing part part numbers things. Like they get dumps of electronic catalogs or ACR scan things in or something. But the whole thing is nothing but worthless list of part numbers with nothing but the number. All they d...

Re: A good afternoon

"A2+ Avery 640GT last model (2002) hand guillotine" It took me a while to figure out what the heck that was. I started thinking some sort of KM P&S, then a Ferrari, then some cruel/cool french thing. Eventualy put it together. As someone who wishes the US would switch to ISO216 (I even...

Re: Man, Sony had better come with some KILLER FIRMWARE UPDATE!

Actually, your assumption isn't really anything. A200/A300/A330 all shared the same Ref ID on the board, but different part numbers, same for the A230/A330/A330 and now the same for the A900/A850. The Ref ID or what ever Sony considers that is the same, and most likely because they use the same serv...

Re: Man, Sony had better come with some KILLER FIRMWARE UPDATE!

First, we don't know the price. People really really need to stop talking about 2k. We have no idea what the price is. A900 is 2700 USD right now from Sony. So we are talking 700 bucks even with 2K. I don't think it will be that extreme. From the specs we have seen, it's pretty clear Sony has all bu...

Re: New Models - Path to Profitability?

I'd wager there are more "we need low resolution high ISO" screamers out there than there is high rez screamers. Few demand more pixels, they just happen. Well, there is the problem that such a body ain't happening. Only if Sony is plotting a Pro Sport Shooter body to be their version of a...

Re: New Models - Path to Profitability?

The idea the alpha line is a looser on money is rumor. And has been even contridicted at times by Sony financial reports stating DSLR sales in some regions of the world are what helped them not do worse. That's to say, the Alphas have been money makers, not losers. The A100 has moderate success for ...

Re: Sony Alpha a850 Complete Instruction Manual Download

We need to go into a holding pattern till we know the price. Right now it fall in 3 possible paths. Keep in mind right now the MSRP for the A900 is 2700 USD. It's also what it's selling for. But of course it's out of stock, which very well is a hint it's discontinued. Secondly the Nikon D300s MSRP i...

Re: Nikon D300s released

I doubt the processors have any noticeable impact on battery life. They very well didn't bother re-doing the test. Afterall, they know it can do no worse. So worst case is their figure is low, which isn't an issue. A big part I'm curious on is if the view finder reduction allowed for a different mir...
