Re: Which Sony Alpha kit lens?
I have the 18-70 kit lens and I didn't dislike it but now I think there might be a lot of variation between samples. Mine doesn't vignette as bad as your samples (that I know of) but while it focuses the image corkscrews untill the focus locks then it seems to snap to the middle.it's jst an annoyanc...

Re: Just bought used Minolta 35-70/4...
I have that lens. I like it quite a lot. and have a lot of nice pictures from it. I didn't take so many shots in macro setting though. Those are great shots. and show the quality of the lens very well I just picked up a 17-35 F2.8 too which is a newer KM lens that I think i'm going to like a lot too...

Re: Focus screens
No Focus screens in Canada :/ Just heard from the shop. they have the instructions and there are part numbers on their system but no stock. They also don't have a mechanizm to let me know when something like that would become available so I would have to call periodically to find out if they have th...

Re: Focus screens
Ok well thats what I will try for then. it's gotta be better than the standard screen. the slowest lens I have is my big beercan and thas only used in bright situations. I have no 5.6 other than that. I was considering the 500mm mirror but I have trouble holding the 300mm so I think it would be a wa...

Re: Focus screens
Thanks David. I haven't heard back from them yet so I donlt even know what they have on hand. My Z700 had a split screen but it also had little prisms in a circle in the middle. what are the grid lines all about ? and how do you know about where it's sharp? is it like matching the 1/2's of the image...

Focus screens
Well my A700 is actually on the bench at Sony now being repaired. I asked the tech about installing a focus screen in it while he has it apart and he's gone to see what they have on hand. Now my dilemma, I expected him to say no but I think I piqued his curiosity because he hasn't done one yet. Anyh...

Re: How much do you use your ultra wide angle?
well I know my 35-70 is pretty sharp across the frame and now it looks like this 17-35 is just as sharp if not maybe a little sharper. they are better than the kit lens anyway which is why I wanted these.

Re: How much do you use your ultra wide angle?
I just received my wide today. I had to go to the postoffice and pick it up and that made me later to work, ( I work more hours than the post does aparently) I'm glad it came in because there are a few big farms on my usuall drive that are growing canola and it makes a nice scene. Hope this is an ac...

Re: First pics posted here
Sorry I hadn't realized anyone responded to my posts. Yes both these were taken with my beercan. it's funny how everything flies crawls or slithers away when my 100mm is attached. but I have a lot of fun doing these with the beercan while just walking around or trying to get another subject. that be...
