Re: Beercan At the Beach

Ah, and the first? I like that one Thanks again guys. That one was shot with the 16-50/2.8 SSM. The silent internal focusing makes a stealthy combo with the A77's electronic shutter, despite the size of the whole kit, for candid shots of strangers. Here are a few more with it: http://farm9.staticfl...

There is an assertion inherent in this question that is subjective and not universally accepted. Valid or not, it isn't a question that can be answered here. Please stay on topic.

I'm very sorry, Sury. I hope the clean-up and recovery goes swiftly without any extra hassles--heaven knows you've been robbed once, I hope your insurer is on your side.

Re: Focus on imaging 2013 UK show - No show for Sony

Funny, and slightly unrelated; I popped into the Sony store up here in Seattle, and they're sending their employees to run around with Sony cameras at the Emerald City Comic Con this weekend. Their Alpha counter sales person had an A700 hanging from her shoulder, with a shiny (read "well-used&q...

Re: Physical size of Nex E mount lenses

I haven't been very impressed by that lens, so it doesn't count. I moderate the Sony Camera Club on Flickr, including the image submissions, so I see a lot of different gear. The SEL-55210 images I can always spot from thumbnail size--it is slow and soft everywhere but in the out-of-focus areas, whe...

I couldn't get it to load. :(

Wait now it loads... boy, he likes the high-contrast black-and-whites, doesn't he?

Re: Sony A58 "plastic lens mount"

No offense, but i think you desire a camera that you can't afford and now you're blaming Sony for it. As a moderator, I have to identify this as inflammatory and caution you against such assertions. However, I think we all want a camera that we can't afford, or choose not to afford, and when the co...

Re: Sony A58 "plastic lens mount"

Whilst I'm here just noticed on the Sony store they are concealing the fact the camera has a plastic mount: http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666536167 No shots of the camera without a lens attached...

That's lovely Dennis! I miss snow, would you believe I used to get more snow in Texas than I get now north of the 45th parallel in Seattle Washington?

Re: Dust on mirror

I had a Zeiss Novar from 1937 which had a really good 'coating' bloom by the 1960s. I also bought some darkroom gear a couple of years ago from a smoker, and all his enlarging lenses were horribly filmed over. No wonder he decided to sell the equipment, I don't think any he print he made would ever...

That’s what I thought too, but it turns out there is lots more depth to KM than that. http://www.konicaminolta.com/opt/products/reflex/index.html Greg That's a weird mix of lenses, stripped of branding, too: http://www.konicaminolta.com/opt/products/reflex/img/pict_001.jpg 35/1.4G, 85/1.4G ...

Re: Which Tele for a77 (eventually a99?)

I've used the 70-200 G with a 2x TC, and let me say it is not a combo I would seek to use again. I would suffer judicious cropping before I use it on anything but astronomical subjects . The 70-200/2.8 is superbly sharp , even from wide open, but none of that made it through the teleconverter in my ...
