Fall in Utah
With a new baby in the house, I haven't had a lot of time to get out these past few months. We are starting to get a handle on things, and I've made some short trips out and about. These are from last week... 1 http://www.landshapephotography.com/img/v28/p539789770-4.jpg 2 http://www.landshapephotog...

Re: Cloudy morning view, Washerwoman Arch, Utah
Been there done that. Dave ran this shot in the magazine a few months back... http://www.landshapephotography.com/img/v17/p537907387-4.jpg but I'll say that I like this image from the same spot much better. http://www.landshapephotography.com/img/v18/p749408204-4.jpg The location I really want to ge...

Re: My 77is locked up
I won't disagree this was a misstep, but at least it's software related and not hardware related.

Nikon V1 DXO score vs NEX....
It should come as no surprise to anyone, the NEX wins handily.
What jumped out at me is the HUGE iso advantage from the NEX-3c.
If you care about IQ, get a NEX. If you need a fashion accessory, get a 1 series...

Re: Nikon 1 System
Personally, I think that the Nex is totally inadequate for any kind of action capture. Heck, you cannot even shoot a beer party with the Nex unless you simply flash that party really hard! So if Nikon really delivers here, all the relatively small image quality imperfections of the new sys readily ...

Re: Nikon 1 System
So if Nikon really delivers here, all the relatively small image quality imperfections of the new sys readily pale before the advantage of fast action capture capabilities. Thom is missing the tiny little fact that in the burst modes, the AF locks. So his idea works only if you have static subjects...

This pic sums up the 1's target demographic.... http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/img/dcw/docs/479/026/036.jpg So I mockingly posted this pic, but thinking about it, the 5 variants of this thing make it a nightmare for brick and mortar retailers. You now have to keep shelf space for 5 versions of this c...

Re: Nikon 1 System
You haven't seen the new panasonic 14-42 pancae have you? A comparison to collapsible design is not a fair one. After all, nothing prevents the same kind of design for the '1'. Why isn't it fair? One could buy that lens today and have a system that's smaller than the 1, and ultimately that's the po...

Re: Nikon 1 System
But seriously, that '1' system is the only one promising some real pocketability at a sensor size greater than 1/1.6 format, and then some lenses to interchange. Side by side vs the Pen mini and the GF1. http://www.photographyblog.com/images/uploads_news/nikon_v1_hands_on_33.jpg I don't see the so ...

Re: Nikon 1 System
And I really do not see how Nikon 1 could be a failure, since it's essentially a pro/enthusiast compact in the price range of a regular enthusiast compact like some Olympus XZ-1. And then the Nikon 1 has many more pro-like features/capabilities. Sounds like you need to dust off your spectacles. Thi...
