Re: test results SONY 70-400 with A700
If Canon and Nikon want's in body stabilization, they can have it now. A couple of years ago on another forum I said that Canon and Nikon probably already have in-body stabilization in prototype form. I am pretty sure that they have it, but until they think the financial advantages outweigh the dis...

Re: test results SONY 70-400 with A700
Most people, including me, wouldn't call them rubbish either...and none of them is an EVIL camera. I thought about it for a moment and then realized that the long list of DSLRs I had in my earlier post are already EVIL cameras. Once that mirror is locked up for live view mode it is as if it no long...

Re: test results SONY 70-400 with A700
Well yeah, only if they did away with the mirror there might be some point, but that means a different type of main sensor (as far as I know it would require more of a movie type sensor ie. rubbish compared too the sensor in a DSLR) Most people probably wouldn't call the sensors in the following DS...

Re: Bibble 5 has arrived, sorta....
Many years ago I used Unix at work and then a few years ago I was doing work on Linux. Wrote lots of software for Linux. I have thought several times in the last couple of years that I should give Linux a try for home use. Much fewer problems with regards to viruses and also most of the software is ...

Re: Looking to buy a scanner
Oh, and here is the link for all the film scanners that Adorama sells:

Of course, there are some flatbed scanners that can scan film too.

Re: Looking to buy a scanner
I quickly looked through the film scanners at Adorama and found 3 with ICE that are fairly inexpensive. You can probably search around and find out how good (or bad) they are: $330: http://www.adorama.com/ICDP7200I.html $350: http://www.adorama.com/ICDP7500ISE.html $240: http://www.adorama.com/IPIPF...

My favorite is #1 with the leafless trees in the foreground and #3 is a close second. Great work!

Re: Trees of the American Southwest
If you can see new growth, it is not Douglas Fir or Western Red Cedar. Neither are capable of growing from cut wood. Both make excellent guitar tops, I have had instruments made with each wood type. Like most cypress/cedar/fir once cut down, that's the end of the tree - unlike deciduous/hardwood tr...

Re: Trees of the American Southwest
Thanks for sharing this one. Any idea how old it is? I don't know how old it is, but it was pretty weathered so it must have been over a decade old. I'm sure it wasn't ancient though. It is quite big too. I would say it is about 8-10 feet in diameter and over 10-12 feet tall. It is probably a Dougl...
