Re: F-stop calculator

What I want is a Bv (brightness value in the EXIF) to EV calculator so I can try to get a sense of how a particular camera is metering and how it’s calculating exposure as related to the particular ISO setting. Most of the calculators on the web are still back in the film era where it was all based ...

Re: Doctor uses Wikipedia for treatment!

Doctor Greg yeah right, actually Barry I used to have a Holden when I was a bit younger and it was a pretty decent car, as far as cars go that is, but I have been driving a truck for many years now, a much more practical type of vehicle for me. I can go pick up long lengths of timber for doing...

Re: Introducing Year of the Alpha – 365 Days of Sony Alpha

Yeah I agree cool headgear Toni, nice detail and the bright yellow flowers are good too. Greg Ps I know something that is interesting for kids, I know it was for us when I was a few years younger, hatching some butterflies, but you have to find some caterpillars first and then get them some leaves e...

Re: Landscape 2014

Well discovered poppy scenes Birma, nicely composed and captured, the blue sky and clouds really set it off. Very nice lighting in the last one. :) Greg Ps 24⁰C wow, that’s nasty. Ps And here was me thinking they let you roll the window down for the shot Henry, I think I still like the...

Re: Flowers 2014

Great detail in that 1st Poppy flower there Birma, :D and nice bokeh along with it, I doubt I’ve seen a better Poppy study before. The Daisy is a nice study too, and I really like the bokeh light in the last Poppy.

Those Apple blossoms are pretty Valery.

Re: Doctor uses Wikipedia for treatment!

Ha ha good one Doc. There are a couple of types of anti-freeze now apparently Barry, we don’t use them at all here in the tropics so I don’t have any firsthand experience with them. According to the Wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethylene_glycol_poisoning it’s the Ethylene Glycol th...

Re: Tiny sensor revenge gallery thread!

Good one H, a day at the races, the sport of Kings, once you get the bug it’s got you apparently, they certainly seem to have gotten bitten in Japan what with building those magnificent venues. Good shots of the day out there, it looks like they fill out forms and go to a teller like a lot of them d...

I never thought I'd say this about an SLT, but I'm reasonably impressed Valery.

Re: Insects...

That’s breaking new ground Birma shooting butterflies on flowers with a 70-400 zoom and then getting such a good result after cropping as well, who needs a macro lens anyway? Nice work. :D

Re: Tiny sensor revenge gallery thread!

The G15 does bash out a good B&W candid Henry and colour detail is great too, :) is the camera quiet in operation and reasonably snappy, i.e. not too many laggy bits?
Greg
Ps yeah me too, what’s the deal with the coins?

It’s a nice looking spot Birma, very colourful, looks like you got a couple of BIF’s in the background too. :D

Who had had the few beers Henry? the subjects or the photographer? pretty decent candids from a p&s (even if a top class p&s) just the same.

Re: Turkey trip photos

Venezuela's economy seems to be in rough shape, from reading those articles Henry, they get quite a lot from the oil so I don't know where the money goes too. Yeah there is much to be said for diversifying for sure, the government is trying to stop them from doing it too, and not the prostitution ei...
