Indeed they do Mike. :D
It'll be a while but I'll probably go the A580 route, which will be good enough for the odd critter and the odd fellwalk near the Mach Loop :!:

Re: Dpreview likes it ...

Just finished reading it. Despite thinking that the physical controls are good, they still don't like the interface itself. It is a pretty compelling bit of kit and, from a technology point if view, a marvel. When you look at how much of the body is taken up with, lens mount, rear flippy screen, di...

Re: Pentax K-r huge AF problems..

Hi Barry, I had similar problems with my Kr but not the K7/5, no idea why, obviously the K5 is more money but a far better Camera in my book, David is right on the Money with his comments on the Canon sensor, tried a 7D for a bit earlier in the year and they are strangely gritty, plus the AF is quir...

Re: a77 image quality advice, how do I get the best from it?

Had a play with the Nex7 in the Carlisle Sony Centre today David, tried the 16mm with it and I see where you are coming from on that one, It's ok but thats it, the Lens I mean. The guy, who was visiting with it didn't have the Zeiss with him, which is a good thing. I ws more wowed by the Nex than th...

Re: a77 image quality advice, how do I get the best from it?

The Minolta 24mm is wiggly and vignettes and has sudden death corners, like the Minolta/Sony 20mm. The 24mm CZ f/2 is almost perfect - no distortion (basically NO distortion, so insignificant that creating a lens profile for it has no apparent effect, so no-one appears to have bothered), no vignett...

Re: a77 image quality advice, how do I get the best from it?

It is worth mentioning that none of my shots on the 24mm f/2, which were taken with firmware v.1.03, show the startup focus error. Also, I have been doing a lot of research into this angle of lens including medium format options. I now believe there is not any identifiable 24mm lens better than the...

Re: a77 image quality advice, how do I get the best from it?

I hear everything you say Magnar! Having tried the A77, I want both, I'm not at all put off by it, in fact just the opposite! SLT I'm cold on, I feel it will go the way of the Do Do as soon as they can get adequate PDAF on sensor, (Ala Nikon V1) where that leaves us is a whole different kettle of Fi...

Re: Wide options

The best out there is the Sigma 7-16mm. I have owned the 11-18mm (three versions!) and actually rate it as pretty good, the geometry is superior to most other lenses. And the 10-24mm, and both Sigma 10-20mm (we still have one of the earlier models). The Sigma 8-16mm beats them all by a very large m...

Re: which lens to buy?

We don't have any deconvolution sharpening in our regular commercial raw developers, but you may already try it in RawTherapee. Basically, the amount of de-blur is only limited by the noise in the image. And you may already sort of use it for some serious work, just have the files developed till no...
