Re: Garden Flowers - Sigma 70-30 APO DG Macro

Nice shots in lens lore, really crisp - something for me to aim for :) .

I tried some further shots today, but same problem, not sharp enough to really pop. More practice required.

I'm interested in the PP workflow you used to spruce up my shot.

Re: Garden Flowers - Sigma 70-30 APO DG Macro

Hi Sonolta, I appreciate you taking the time for detailed comments. I think it was some of your shots with this lens that got me to try macro with it. (I look forward to your flower shots.) I will try some higher ISO shots to increase the DOF next time. I have had a go at some PP, using IDC and then...

Garden Flowers - Sigma 70-30 APO DG Macro

Here are some shots from today using my Sigma 70-30 APO DG Macro, with emphasis on the "macro" part. I bought this lens for the long telephoto, but decided to try out the macro part for the first time. I am pleased with the detail and the smooth oof backgrounds. Am I too easily pleased? I ...

I like number 1 especially - I look forward to a sunny day version.

Congratulations on becoming a Grand Caliph! It sounds as if some fancy new head-wear is called for :)

Re: ENGINEERING [450k, 9pics]

Great set of shots - I have been thinking about getting a second hand Min 28 2.8 for a while and these shots help for the + side. A nearby LCE has one for 99.00GBP which perhaps seems expensive with them are going on eBay for anything from 44 to 80 GBP. I suppose with LCE there will be a warranty an...

Re: Maxxum lens

The 50 1.7 is my first prime lens and I think its great. Very bright, and I find it easier to take sharper shots than with the kits lens. Nice Bokeh too. Very good for portraits although you do need to be quite close so perhaps not so good for candids unless you are quite brave :D . I found not havi...

Great site Richard - love the insects, landscapes and sea scapes especially. You have a lot of nice b&w. Would you mind sharing your b&w approach?

Re: Where's the website gone?

Phew - thanks David! I was starting to hyper ventilate at the thought of no PhotoclubAlpha all weekend - what would happen if I needed to check a review or something?

All back to normal now :)

Re: Click the link

Really lovely pictures, my favourite is the ruined columns with the lion's head. I am also amazed that there is a McDonalds in Beirut!

Thank you for sharing them.

Just got my copies of the Photoworld ...

... and they look excellent - thanks for getting these to me so promptly. Just the sort of inspirational reading for the few days holiday I have coming up in Pembrokeshire.

See you all when I get back - hope I have some pictures to post :-)

Re: Hello from Worcester, England ...

I agree Worcestershire is a lovely county and it's been my home for over 30 years - I guess we often neglect the place that we are most familiar with compared to the exotic (although I realise that not everyone would consider the Hebrides "exotic"!) :) I also agree that the A100 is a great...

Re: Hello from Worcester, England ...

Hi - I hadn't updated my profile when I first posted a message. I'm using the A100 which is my first SLR let alone DSLR. I've had it since the launch but I've only taken it off "P" and really started to investigate it properly in the last 6 months - mainly due to sites such as this and Dyx...

Hello from Worcester, England ...

... but wishes to be in the Hebrides! A photography and DSLR newbie. I have lurked on this list and on others for 6 months or so and decided to join the conversation. Looking forward to learning more about the technology and art of "taking pictures". Along with the Dyxum Lens Database, I h...
