Re: Refurbished A99V

As I understand it in the UK, refurbished cameras are usually ones which developed a fault shortly after purchase and were swapped out by the manufacturer. The faulty one was then repaired and sold as refurbished. We bought a Canon point and shoot like that and had many years service from it. As And...

Re: Here is the new Sony A68

Somewhat agree, I've got so used to the EVF I'd actually miss it.
It's great in dark surroundings even if it is a tad noisy.
I'd need to get reading glasses for sure to review images on the rear screen :)

Re: Here is the new Sony A68

Huge disappointment for me as the rumoured body turned out NOT to be an A99 update. It continues the A mount line but certainly doesn't advance the product line. I can manage without the larger screen as I do most of my reviewing in the EVF (would need to wear reading glasses to use the rear screen)...

Re: My second Sony breakdown!

Camera returned yesterday. Seems to be working fine.
The repair note states "Complete dismantle to replace sequence assembly and return camera to standard."

Anyone tell me what they are talking about? Shutter mechanism perhaps?

Re: Will there really be an A99ii

Barry, I spoke to several friends last week at the airfield about the E mount and using their Canon lenses on one as an alternative. They all laughed except one. The common comment was along the lines of "...do you really think we'd buy a camera from a tin pot outfit that doesn't even look afte...

Re: Will there really be an A99ii

Edward, Unfortunately I believe the A7 series is making good money for Sony. I posted something on DPreview comparing the update cycle of A7 series to A77/A99. Essentially the A7 series has been updated on a cycle which is nearly half that for the A77/A99. I aquired an A77Mk2 at a bargain price from...

I'd agree with the colour balance comments, same here.

Re: Will there really be an A99ii

My A99 is currently being repaired but I have seen a few threads on DPreview recently relating to the A99II. I guess with a finite resource, Sony has to pick carefully what it develops and because of it's lead on the mirrorless system and good product takeup, it has shelved the A mount roadmap (eith...

Re: Sony np-fm500 batteries ?

Thanks Mike. I saw Hannel ones today in the local LCE but as they were 39.99 I wasn't very tempted. Looks like I had a lucky escape. That is a good tip. I dream about having a local LCE or WEX etc. Just to be able to actually play with the various cameras and lenses. The only local shop in Aberdeen...

Re: My second Sony breakdown!

Just got the quote back from AJ Johnstone.
£342
I had guessed around £400 so not bad. £1479 is the best UK price I could find for a new one.

It's getting repaired.

Re: Landscape 2015

Andy,

Those dawn shots are superb.
I missed a superb sunset on Monday night as I was playing with my new monitor and didn't see the steadily improving orange glow in the sky. Went last night just in case but it wasn't as good. Will put on later.

Re: If there is no A99II where do you go?

Not much choice as the A99 broke down a couple of weeks ago. Currently waiting for a repair quote :(
Did have a look on eBay and other second hand dealers for another body but I'll wait till I have the cost first before I decide what to do. Might be a second body yet.

Re: My second Sony breakdown!

Ah well the A99 is off to A J Johnstone in Glasgow for a repair quote. I don't really want to lose it as I have accumulated a nice set of affordable short zoom lenses for it which I doubt I'd be able to get for the Nikon. Minolta or Konica Minolta 17-35, 28-75 f2.8, 28-105 and a classic 35-70 f4. Th...
