Re: Turkey trip photos
A comment made many years ago to a very young, extremely immature history undergraduate by a somewhat elderly mature age post graduate student during a Friday night Geek Out. " The past is waiting in ambush in the future to gain revenge on the present." So it seems that we are coming at th...

Re: Turkey trip photos
My last post was at 3am local time and doesn't read as well as I had hoped. This is going to sound like the old german joke that ends " but some of my best friends WERE Jewish. :) We tend to be as a family quite combative and forceful in our opinions especially when family members or close frie...

Re: Turkey trip photos
Yildiz, I did comment about real or perceived grievances. But just as there is a tendency in Japan to portray themselves as the victims of US aggression and somehow not responsible for their own actions, Turkey has shown no willingness to acknowledge let alone address the wrongs of either the past o...

Re: Turkey trip photos
Military power projection capacity may have always been part of the definition of being a Great Power. But only part of the definition and can be argued that the build up in military strength often is needed to defend a countries interests from others. It requires a reasonably stable political syste...

Re: Just Blew the Rest of My A99 II Money
I did have quite a long initial comment to make but it appears I took too long to post and got logged out. Salient points were I'm not in a position to devote much time at the moment to extensive testing so it may take some weeks to have a decent idea about the lenses in practical terms and if they ...

Just Blew the Rest of My A99 II Money
After several weeks debating with myself whether to buy into the Batis or Loxia lens range, I am now the owner of the Loxia 21 and 35 lenses. So at the moment I am spending my spare time relearning how to properly manually focus a wide angle lens on a hand held 42 MP camera. Both composing and focus...

Re: I Didn't Buy An A99 Mark 2
I'm not really sure you can describe such a thing as an Australian market given that Australia has a population of 22 million spread over an area of the lower 48 of the USA. The local market apart from what local camera stores, is really Australia, NZ, Singapore, Hong Kong, China,Taiwan,Korea and Ja...

Re: I Didn't Buy An A99 Mark 2
With the Fuji or M43 systems the fact that there are few if any offerings from the high end third party lens manufacturers isn't that important. There is enough decent offerings to put together a first class kit whether that be primes. zooms or a combination of both. just go with what suits you. My ...

Re: I Didn't Buy An A99 Mark 2
I remarked when Fuji released the X-T1 then that was the type of camera design that I would prefer. But lets be honest even the new X-T2 which is slightly larger does not cope well with larger and heavier lenses like the 100-400 zoom. For me. But as I like dials, the Fuji shape is much more functiona...

I Didn't Buy An A99 Mark 2
None of the local dealers have any stock and Sony Australia could give no estimate when any more would arrive for starters. But I had mostly made up my mind not to buy anyway. Pretty much all my A lenses are older Minolta lenses and I could see no point in the future buying A mount and E mount lense...

Re: Sony a77II discontinued
The only difference is as far as I can tell is the actual camera body.Excluding of course the actual sensor unit. I am rather confused as to what point classiccamera is attempting to make.

Re: Sony a77II discontinued
Actually I'm not the one to bring up the DxO claims about sensors for the latest M43 cameras.
However I'm now going out to do a tour of the local garden centers to see if I can find a couple of showy Bouganvillaea for the courtyard part of the garden.

Re: Sony a77II discontinued
Everyone has their own list of priorities and acceptable levels of compromise - personally I would go for the Nikon D 7xxx family over the D 5xxx because the 7's are able to use the older screw lenses, to others this doesn't matter. And yes in terms of convenience a modern M43 with its somewhat smal...

Re: Sony a77II discontinued
It depends on what features you are looking for as much as its pricing in the market. I would rate the cameras capabilities somewhat above the Nikon D7200 and more in line with the Canon 7D Mark 2. And the Canon is still rather more expensive around here than the Sony, even though the Canon has simp...

Re: LA-EA2-like adapter for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc. lenses?
The initial batch seem to have sold out quickly although you never can be sure how large an initial batch of most things is going to be. Now that there are several adapters that do a decent job of converting Canon EF lenses, then there needs to be a number of Nikon converters for the other half. One...
