Re: Looking back was some times better
Panasonics are the go to camera for most videographers. They are just as useful as a stills camera, with no corner cutting. I cannot fault the 2 I have, one was a GX7 now sold to pay for my Panny bridge FZ330, I cannot fault them, for my type of photography which is mainly Jpegs, They never let me d...

Re: Looking back was some times better
Its been a long term bug bare of mine that Sony decided not to give user control over noise, Jpegs were never their strong point, I have just one body left a A58 with a couple of Minolta lenses, but they hardly get used these days as my Canon M5 and Panasonic Bridge get all the work. I find it hard ...

Re: Looking back was some times better
We must keep A mount alive even though they have ceased production, I was never a huge fan of the rather brash colours Sony A mount exhibited, but use a few older Konica/Minolta lenses on my A57 and the colours became very pleasing, a lot is to do with the coatings Sony were putting on their lenses ...

Looking back was some times better
During the lock down periods I started looking at some of the early Jpegs taken with various A mount cameras I have owned, starting with the A-57 then A-37 and more recently the -A-58 I was more impressed with both the 57 and 37 pics which had the 16 mp sensors, but not so pleasing were the A-58 wit...

Re: Future of A mount
Must be the sign of the times, because my local Cash convertors shop are selling several Sony A mount bodies, A77 Mk 1, A 57, A 68 all I might add way above what the second markets for these models demands.

Re: Pentax K3III has landed with "ouch" price tag!
It would be interesting to see just how many people are using Pentax, the photographers I know not one is using Pentax, My local photo shop is a Pentax main dealers with all the products on the shelves but every time I'm in there its people looking at Canon's, Nikon's and Panasonic mostly, which acc...

Re: Pentax K3III has landed with "ouch" price tag!
They think its a selling point and one up on the other brands, I really don't understand Pentax, if they had done things right from the start they could have been up with Canon & Nikon, like they were in the 35mm days, but they just did not hit the spot from day one. I never liked their colour p...

Re: Jay Maisel loves his Nikon 28-300mm
Your probably right, I recently invested in a Canon M5, love it, easy to hold and operate, you also get a FS adaptor in the kit. The kit lens is a very good performer compared to most other brand kit lenses. Negative side, poor lens selection so far. but I can hang a couple of FS lenses on the front...

Re: Early Fujifilm/Finepix DSLR cameras
It looks like the A99 is a keeper, I suspect it ticks a lot of boxes for you and I can see why, my A58 is also a keeper, but I do need to sell off all the lenses and get just a more versatile do it all lens, but must have a reasonable performance, either Sony or 3rd party, any ideas. I was thinking ...

Re: Early Fujifilm/Finepix DSLR cameras
Agreed, with most of what you say, I have not equalled the Jpgs out of my old X10. not sure what Fuji's thinking is regards sensors. What ever brand of camera you look at, none are perfect in one way or another, they never tick every box. There is always the Fuji used market, if its worth chasing. S...

Re: Early Fujifilm/Finepix DSLR cameras
Fuji at one point was a system I nearly moved over to, but Sony and Canon got in the way of that decision. As you remember I love my Jpegs and no camera came near Fuji for Jpeg quality, may be Olympus does, Fuji seem to have priced themselves into a higher price bracket, even at the budget end of th...

Re: Early Fujifilm/Finepix DSLR cameras
I thought the early Olympus DSLR's fitted with Kodak CCD sensors exhibited nicer colour and balance very much like Ektachrome, Not very high MP and was noisy above ISO 1600. I had some friends years ago have a studio shoot of the family, all on a S5 Pro, they were superb pictures all under studio li...

Early Fujifilm/Finepix DSLR cameras
Any body remember the early Fujifilm DSLR cameras based on Nikon bodies, S3-Pro S5-Pro IS.Pro etc. Apparently they were highly revered amongst the studio portrait photographers and still being used today by some. I really don't know much about them but its a bit of early Fuji camera history, They ar...

Re: Future of A mount
Its the British rail syndrome, prices started rising, so less and less people used BR, thus ticket sales were down and profit margins started to disappear, Oh dear said the management we had better put up the prices to recoup the losses, Oh dear said the public I think I will go by car or bus, BR sa...
