Re: Sony A77-Really a Bridge camera? Worth Getting Now or Wa

jbtaylor wrote:I suggest you find a camera that meets your current needs as there is no bridge required to get to where you already are. For me that means NEX 5 or 7, or maybe a 500 series Alpha (even if it is used).
This is exactly what I did, kept the A700 and just bought a NEX-5N in lieu of moving to the A77.

What's the story on that one? Minor point but still puzzling
Quick nav is gone, unfortunately.

Re: A noisy world on the A77

Just for the kicks  A half-res crop from some DPR Nex7 sample found in their a77 review. The full image screen dimensions would correspond to an about A2 size. Easily printable to A3. And that's ISO12800... No sophisticated processing, just Lr3.5 with pretty standard settings I use for higher...

Re: SLT sales at London Camera Exchange

I was initially impressed with the JPEG's out of the A77 also, which sort of raises the question of why they are so much better than the RAW's? Are we back to the old issue of ACR being used to judge raw output? The Adobe conversion made a mess of A700 files for a long time, support doesn't necessa...

Should I be worried?
Anyone else had this problem?
I seem to remember hearing of issues with Kingston cards in the past. That was some time ago though.

At the very least you should be able to swap it under warranty for another card?

Re: A65 vs A77

Having been able to briefly try both an A77 and an A65 this week, I have to say my more positive initial reaction came from the A65. The A77 was basically what I'd expected as a progression from the A700, in terms of feel/interface. The A65 to me though is leaps and bounds above the A580 or A55 in t...

KM certainly had a plant there, don't know if Sony would have picked it up.

Re: 10,300 words on the Alpha 77

Thanks David! I managed to have a 10-15 minute test drive of an A77 over the weekend, taking my CZ16-80 and a Class 6 SD card. It was pretty clear that it's a great deal of camera in terms of functionality and would need more than just a quarter hour of play. I took away some decidedly average RAW+J...

Re: A noisy world on the A77

One says we are trying to optimize a camera. The other says it was just a business price/feature decision. tom Or, the first is an engineering answer and the second a sales/marketing answer. Unfortunately, it's not usually the engineers answering the questions - they have a habit of being too hones...

Mine will likely go towards funding the A77. I got it a few years ago for a reasonable price, great le...

That really has to be down to Sony Oz, as we have the A580 in Sony Style stores here in NZ. However, it has always been conspicuously absent from their website.

Re: Alpha 100 versus Alpha 77

I see Adobe is still as stupid as ever... Sounds familiar. I spent a good chunk of last weekend trying to get CS5.5 working on my sister's new laptop. I'd migrated the data across from an old computer I'd given them that had a previous CS3 install. The new install wouldn't register their (legitimat...
