Re: Panorama

Jerry, it seems you have a definite style: Once again a pano with a ‘cropped’ foreground and ‘open’ sides (no lateral ‘repoussoirs’ at all). I think Jacob van Ruysdael painted some panoramas in this style… Thanks for posting.

Re: Panorama

after scrolling around in a really big picture for a while, I have this kind of strange let-down feeling when I hit an edge. I have a feeling that at some point I'm going to experiment with doing some 360 degree VR shots. Interesting and thought-provoking reflection, Jerry. It has made me think of ...

Re: Flash Rotating Bracket

Kevin, I side with Paco and Dr. Harout (and I think also with Jerry) in this... Two years ago I was asked to shoot a wedding. It was a very formal wedding, and I had no experience in that kind of photography, so I tried my best to explain why I shouldn’t do that. But I was asked by the bride herself...

Re: B&W 50/1.7

Kevin, I agree with Javelin: You have caught her in a nice reading gesture. (If you decide to print it, I think that a reduction of the black left side could perhaps benefit the already good composition.)

Re: Panorama

Jerry: Awesome nature around you (and a belated welcome from me…)! Thanks for showing us (and thanks also for your technical contributions in other threads: I am always learning here). Panoramas aren’t easy at all to compose. I prefer them to be not too extreme (ie, not too ‘thin’), and generally lo...

Re: Hello from France!

Hello and welcome also from Spain, Sebastien! I like your sense of humour, so even if it were true that the world won’t miss your 20 or 30 shots a year (and I am looking forward to seeing your pictures: ¿are they as unusual as your equipment?), I think we would miss your posts if they were only 20 o...

Re: November on the Isle of Skye ... Part 1

Birma: I really like your reflection photo (the first one) as it is. But I do think that, as Murph suggests, a slight crop could perhaps make it even better. My suggestion would be just to eliminate the foreground underwater rocks (in order to simplify a little more the already wonderfully simple im...

Re: A900 and Tilt & Shift

Alphaomega: Mirex Tilt-Shift-Adapters ( http://www.mirex-adapter.de/tilt_shift_adapter.htm ) will convert any Mamiya 645 (or Hasselblad) in a T/S lens for the Alpha mount (via a T2 adapter). I have recently got the M645 version of the Mirex T/S adapter. It’s not at all cheap, but works as advertised...

Re: a100 questions

Welcome from me too, Themoneyshot! I still use my A100 (although now that I have got an A700 I use the A100 strictly as a second camera and only for landscapes). I downloaded and installed all the firmware updates (from v1.0 to v1.04) in my A100, and never noticed any detail smearing. So I am with S...

Re: Sony 16-80mm - how much slop, twitch, clunk?

Markus: David's presumption about the Hoya slimline pro types is correct. I do use a Hoya Super HMC Pro 1 (62mm) UV(0) with my CZ 16-80mm. It has a front thread and does not vignette.

Markus: As I have written in another post (just before seeing this post of you), your pictures are not only beautiful and technically impeccable, but also show a lot of love and respect for their subject. (And that’s the highest praise I could think of for a photo.)

Springm: Thanks a lot for your judgments and comments. I truly appreciate them (specially coming from a person whose gallery is full of pictures that are not only beautiful and technically impeccable, but also show a lot of love and respect for their subject). I don’t print landscapes. They call for...

Re: Autumn landscape (A700+CZ1680)

I understand it's A700 + 16-80 CZ, but it's the beauty of the place and the excellent lighting. You’re so right, Dr. Harout…! One should always remember that the subject in the photo is always much more important than anything else, the photo itself included (and I am the first to forget that truth...
