Re: The a mount is going mirrorless according to SAR
Apart from getting the new hot shoe interface ‘out there’ I’m not sure what purpose the model serves, it seems to be a slight upgrade from the A37 and a downgrade from the A57 so it’s anyone’s guess what the plan is The A58 evidently is a reposition rather than a straight replacement & there we...

Re: RX1 Bargains on ebay
it's also worth keeping an eye on Sony UK's outlet store where they sell their refurbs/returns.
Iirc RX1s tend to be ~£1800 on there with a full 12 month Sony warranty but they do go fast!

Re: Ken Rockwell - A99
I don't 100% trust any of the review sites as none of them imo reflects my usage & needs exactly. I therefore pick & choose parts from various sites . Ultimately I like to go to a shop & have a play - albeit this is becoming harder & harder. KR ,like most, is opinionated e.g. he like...

Re: Ken Rockwell - A99
Sony must be shifting enough kit that KR wants his piece of the pie too ..
(sorry, but I've probably become as cynical about KR as his reviews are )

I know that Barry & I have somewhat different viewpoints on a no. of things but in this one I agree.
I'm sure that DxO is a repeatable metric , I just don't think that their particular metric (particularly it's high ISO rating) tallies with real world acceptable usage.

Re: A58 Review
I believe the A57 will cease production soon, the 3 series same story. That leaves the A65 and A77 models I would imagine they will continue to be made (but commanding lower prices) but we have no idea on that one at all, maybe Sony will halt production later this year. I would be surprised if the ...

So it's only happening in Quick AF LIve View.
Can you see if the upper mirror or sensor are obviously not moving fully or out of alignment?

Re: A580 LCD issue with live view.
are actual images out of the camera OK or do they also show this?
I'm wondering if the sensor is out of alignment as the LCD is itself appears OK due to overlaid info being OK.

that's not really Kodak though - they have licenced their brand name to a 3rd party. As I said, it is the "new" Kodak. If you know of another Kodak then let me know. the "old" Kodak is still around http://www.kodak.com/ek/US/en/Home.htm I do know that where I am just about...

Re: Focus on imaging 2013 UK show - No show for Sony
I don't want to go into an extended service argument here, but the retailer where I got the camera from did NOT have any other A57's in stock so that is why I went to Sony directly. Normally you would go back to the retailer but in this case I think I took a logical path. I could have got a refund ...

Re: Sony A58 "plastic lens mount"
when the company you've invested in is firmware-crippling bodies to protect the sales of its higher end bodies, it's hard not to feel sore. . They all do though - Canon, Nikon etc. as well. Barry, D7k is older & replaced though ;) You can find a new, UK stock A77V body only for £749 if you look...

Re: Focus on imaging 2013 UK show - No show for Sony
Sony couldn't give a damn if I'm without a camera I paid for, for months possibly...? tbh Barry that should really be between you & the dealer. You didn't buy it from Sony direct & it's highly probable that the dealer made more profit from selling it to you than Sony did selling it to the d...

probably because the current one couldn't support the extra functions.bfitzgerald wrote: No idea why Sony dropped the normal wired remote
I would imagine that Sony may also try to standardise this across Alpha/Nex/Cybershot & video cameras.

As for Focus a couple of years ago Sony decided that they were better off spending their money on other marketing activities than attending.
