Re: A900 Type L Focusing Screen

Graeme, Have had an L type sceen fitted in my A900 for the last 18 months and have never felt the need to revert back to the standard screen as the L type is as bright and clear as the original and the grid lines are a real help in composition. Fitting is a 5 minute job and well worth it. http://sup...

Re: Locations In Cornwall

Hi Birma, Mousehole is a great place to head to, just west of Penzance and Newlyn, but like St. Ives has very narrow streets. We park on the road from Newlyn just outside of the village (for free!) - you can park on the harbour wall - but that's not recommended for the faint-hearted! Enjoy your time...

Re: Locations In Cornwall

As your going to be based in St. Ives, the whole of the West Penwith area is easily reached (Land's End Peninsula) and the scenery varies greatly between the north and south coast lines. I'd suggest anywhere between Zennor to St. Just on the north and Mousehole/Lamorna to Land's End on the south coa...

Re: May I be guided by you?

David, the clear distance from front rim of lens to subject at 1:1 on the Sony 100mm is 155mm.

Re: i dont now

I had a Minolta 300 f4 G HS paired with a Minolta 1.4x converter for eight or so years, and while the 300 provided excellent images, when used with the converter there was a fair amount of CA. When I got a 70-400 I compared the two and there was really nothing in it image quality wise (sharpness) at...

How about this, taken last night, 30sec, f4.5, iso320, A900 CZ24-70 @24mm - I think the cross falls within the category of being a sign...........

Re: Looking for advice on KM lenses: 17-35 and 28-70

I had a 28-70 f2.8G for about 6 years, using it on Minolta film bodies. When I got my first digital body, a D7D, it was a little softer then I'd have liked and produced some interesting flare patches when you'd least expect it. After getting an A100, and things didn't improve, I sold it, replacing i...

Re: Challenge 20: "Fall Colors" - Submissions

Here are a couple of takes on Fall/Autumn Colour, sneaking in just before the challenge closes! Not sure that they can compete with some of the other great shots though.....

Re: 24-85mm Minolta

LOL Barry. No even at f11 and f13 it still isn't bittingly sharp in the corners. I hunted high and low through my test shots to try and find some example, but I appear to have delete them so am unable to post any pictures. If I get a chance and the weather is ok over the next couple of days I'll try...

Re: Post your uncropped images!

Mulled wine is a traditional British winter warmer. You take a bottle (or two!!) of rough red wine, add a couple of chopped oranges, cinnimon, cloves and sugar to taste, putting them all in a saucepan. Heat through and then serve! The cheaper the wine the better - I don't recommend your best Chataue...

Re: Post your uncropped images!

Greg, I was just sorting through a couple to post when you left your last message! The first was taken while we were on holiday on the Isles of Scilly this year and the second and third were taken yesterday in Mousehole (a Cornish fishing village renown for it's Christmas lights). The man under the ...

Re: 24-85mm Minolta

Olaf, my experience with the 24-105 (in its Sony incarnation) on the A900 was the same as David's, so I got rid of it a year ago - maybe you've just got an exceptionally good example? Greg and Barry, I've still got my 17-35 G but to be fair hardly use it - I tend to use the 12-24 Sigma for UWA and l...
