Re: RX Nex? Seriously?

Most have an image circle that would allow for a 1:1 aspect with the full height of the full-frame sensor. In fact, all real (non-Canon) APSC lenses must cover full-height 1:1 FF crop simply because the FF height is only slightly greater than the APSC width, plus there's some extra APSC circle diam...

Re: That tricky 6 or 7 question

I have both the 6 and 7. 'Lower noise' with the 6 is a fairy tale. The noise with the 7 is much finer and it aliases far less with the true image detail. Then add to that the generally higher edge aliasing of the 6 due to its insufficient AA filter, and you may arrive at a case where the 7 delivers ...

Re: Data Recovery

I prefer Sony Memory Stick cards, but they are too expensive and harder to find these days... I have to agree here, they are too expensive wrt the SD format cards. And I also prefer the Sony HX MS, and not only because of speed. The fact is that only the Nex7 of all the Nex line can take any speed ...

Re: Data Recovery

Just a couple of years ago I would absolutely keep clear off Sandisk and the likely overpriced stuff; two reasons - too many fakes and also too deep burn-in factory testing of the originals, and hence too frequent malfunctions. It's much better now as the Sandisk pricing came down to more reasonable...

Re: Mirrorless rumours

Barry, Canon already has a (very anaemic) mirrorless system. That's not going to stay anaemic.

Also that very 70D already is a good mirrorless system - just use it in LV with full-time PDAF. The mirror with the OVF would be just some redundant bolt-ons for many if not most younger users.

Re: Mirrorless rumours

Furthermore, it's possible to have all the sensor sensels work as PDAF one, just optimise half of them to look more to one side with the other half looking more to other side. That would also even out the corner shading of the present regular digital sensors. Well, now we do not have to wait for So...

Re: Mirrorless rumours

Didn’t Sony try to get A-mount screw drive working on the NEX with an adaptor Mk 1 and it wouldn’t work worth a damn, (very slow) and then they brought the Mk 2 adaptor out with the SLT mirror and then it worked ok (with screw drive), or have I got that wrong? The LA-EA1 had no screwdriver, did slo...

Re: Mirrorless rumours

Mirrorless A-mount hangs entirely on AF performance.

Some of that tech will be making way into an updated Nex7 - that's when we know it.

Re: Touit ...

Pako, I don't care of those pseudo-'German' trends/tales, especially considering that neither Leica nor Schneider are subject to that ugly Zeiss rendering while being as sharp/high-contrast or better. The matter is - 90% of shots with that Touit 32mm would be showing very ugly and obvious artifacts....

Re: Touit ...

The 12mm appears quite fine indeed. But the 32mm was not tested there for bokeh/blur properties. And that's exactly the very weak point of that lens, and it really makes its larger apertures' usability very limited. The problem is that the lens PSF acts to create very hard-edge circles from defocuse...

Re: Sony Alpha 350 Lens Upgrade

You may consider a SAL35f1.8 for some low-light indoor shots. The lens is very inexpensive, yet optically is next to perfect.

Re: Mirrorless rumours

So, for pixel-lovers, I did a fast test last Saturday with the 3 24mm primes I have: Zeiss 24f1.8; Minolta MD 24mm f2.8 (49mm filter size) Quantaray (Sigma) 24mmf2.8 "Macro" with a plain adapter (I didn't use the LA-EA2 even if I believe it doesn't reduce quality) https://www.dropbox.com/...
