Facebook Page: Sony Owners Club
Ahoy! I've just created a Sony Owners Facebook page at: Sony Owners Club . It's still in it's infancy, though I neglected to include Minolta owners, so I will amend it accordingly. Hope you'll be able to stop by and offer advice and help to anyone that needs it. EDIT: I've added the PCA URL to my pa...

Re: Panavia Tornado GR.4
Nice detail on that GR4 Pirate - it looks very business like. Thx. It was the Southport airshow last Saturday and some of the 'faster stuff' were using Liverpool Airport. The Vulcan did a flyover. I've got a little slideshow that I'm still working on. Warbirds Slideshow Click the links underneath t...

Panavia Tornado GR.4
Having moved to an A850 from the A700 and also having bought the newly released Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF Di USD lens, this is one of a series taken at Liverpool airport. First time used 'in anger' as a pairing. What do I think of the lens? I'll take the 5th on that one, but pp'ing 24Mb FF files...

Moved to A850 from A700 (notice of items to be sold)
Ahoy! Just for the record, a short message to my fellow A700 owners that I'm moving on to the A850 and as such in due course will be putting up for sale the following items, though as yet, I don't know where, when or for how much, but thought it worthy of some heads-up as this forum has been so help...

Re: Now then, where does this bit go?
No problemo Mark, as soon as you're shipshape clear the deck for action and go get us some more plane photos. Greg Ihadrlyknowher A handy flickr linky plugin that scrolls down, so no wading through pages of stuff. Also fluidr. I like this one a lot. Anyway, enjoy the images assuming you want to hav...

Re: Now then, where does this bit go?
I haven't seen a restoration photo of a Mig 17 before, and that's a good shot. One would think Mig 17 parts might be getting a bit scarce now. Greg ps. Hope you are on the mend Pirate. Thanks Greg, but third consecutive day stuck in bed (I have a spinal problem), but thanks for your kind words and ...

Re: Now then, where does this bit go?
Good one, Pirate. You selected a good angle and the colours are fairly neutral under the light coming from the opening. It sort of has a 'living room' appeal. I wouldn't mind having one of those in mine if it looked like that. : ) Sort of a weird wish but not inapplicable... Good detais on the Mig-...

Now then, where does this bit go?
Ahoy!
This is a 1964 built Chinese Mig-17 F 'Fresco' (Shengyang F4) currently undergoing restoration at Kissimmee Air Museum, Florida, USA. I've tried to give a bit of a 'pop' to enhance the details a bit more.
Taken with Sony A700 + Sigma AF 17-70mm DC Macro.

Dust, scratch or missing lens coating? Look at this
This will make you think twice before you ever turn down a perfectly decent lens on the basis of a small amount of dust, flaked-off lens coating or a scratch on the front element.

Re: unsharp mask
I use the following in CS5 (subtle), but can be increased if required after first adjusting with IDC. Amount = 200% (increase to 300% + if more is required) Radius: 0.2 pixels Threshold: 0 However, I normally open my .ARW RAW files using Sony IDC v3.2 as the programme has a great sharpening feature ...
