Re: Is this forum dying?
Henry after you give the G15 the once over or even the twice over I'd be interested in your impressions. :D Will do. By the way, for the last couple of days I started wondering if the title of this thread was wrong. Instead of Is this forum dying? I was wondering if it should have been Is this foru...

Re: Two New (Very Old) Cameras
I too have quite a lot of film in my fridge (not freezer but I imagine it will be ok). While I still have four Minolta film cameras (including two Dynax 7s) it is the medium format film I may have another go with on my wonderful Rolleiflex 3.5F Planar. I am prompted to do this following a recent 480...

Re: Sony 16-50 pancake lens on Nex-7?
Well I relented and, like jeep1, I bought an unused one on eBay for just over £200. This is an amusing lens. Without applying the lens profile in LR4 the 9% barrel distortion is hilarious on raw files. Of course you don't notice this in-camera because the latest firmware fixes it for jpgs, which are...

Yes I was, very happy. We are not talking about fine art printing of course. More than acceptable though for a record or a gift.bakubo wrote:artington wrote:

Re: Using Lightroom 4 to Create your Photo Books
Blurb is not cheap if you only put in a few photos. However the pricing is very fair for larger numbers. My first Blurb book (10x8 inches) had hard covers with photo-wrap and 20 premium lustre photos and the cost after postage was about £30. Not cheap. However, I later did another book, exactly the ...

Re: Sony A58 "plastic lens mount"
I'm just seeing a watershed point here where some users will simply say "yawn to APS-C" and let's just go full frame. I wouldn't pay £1100 for a D7100 looks more like an £800 camera (like the K-5II price is nowhere near as high as it used to be) I can't see dedicated action shooters being...

Re: RX-1 vs FF SLR: Please Pile On!
I jumped ship to Canon for their lenses, in particular the 24mm TSE (although I have retained 3 decent alpha lenses so may return some day). Initially, I had the Canon 5D MkII which I didn't like much, mainly because of its ergonomics, which didn't suit me, and the poor high ISO performance. When th...

Re: Is this forum dying?
I think you are right, Henry - I have felt it too and also know I have been losing interest. For my part, this reflects a personal disdain for the rise in negativity here - not overwhelming but definitely noticeable. Now I expect that statement will garner some response and maybe it won't be that po...

Re: Nikon, Olympus, Sony reported their 3rd quarter results
I think you are bang on the money here, Dr H. Yes, OVFs have better shadow delineation than EVFs but that will change. Film had better dynamic range than digital sensors but now we have up to 14EV DR with some sensors (at base ISO) and that I think tops any film ever made, including Kodacolor 64. Yes...

Re: MetaBones Speed Booster Adaptor
Another review, this time from DPR. The main interest for me is that, for the first time that I've seen, the crop factor is actually stated - and ir's not 1:1 but 1:1.07-09. Close enough to FF. The review also notes that while AF is possible on later Canon lenses it is too slow to be practical, so t...

Re: Konica Minolta DSLR cameras
I have a KM7D and can't imagine selling it. The great thing about these is that they were pretty well Minolta Dynax 7 camera bodies made digital. So you have adjustments available to you including exposure compensation (in either 1/3 or 1/2 stops) and flash exposure compensation using top mounted di...

Re: MetaBones Speed Booster Adaptor
The statement from Metabones refers to ALPA and not to Sony Alpha Thanks for that clarification artington. That puts paid to my vision of a Samyang 24mm T&S lens on my NEX and Alpha 580. What a difference one letter can make. Shame on Metabones for not making a speed booster for A-mount lenses....
