Re: FF announced
There has been comment in places about poor focusing when using focus peaking. I am not sure whether this refers to focus peaking generally or only when used with classic MF lenses. The thread excerpt linked below, as well as having some impressive examples of the 40/2 Summicron-C, a lens I have pra...

Re: FF announced
Let's not link to Brian Smith, great photographer but he's sponsored by Sony, paid for events etc, and on the "freebie" list so pays nothing for Sony gear. He's not likely to be overly critical of their products  We can get much more objective reviews from other resources. That's an...

Re: FF announced
A couple of questions about this new range. Does anyone know 1. Whether it is necessary to use the LA-EA4 adapter to achieve autofocus with A-mount lenses on the A7 (given that this camera has phase detection AF on the sensor) or will the LA-EA3 do the trick? Clearly the LA-EA4 would be required for...

Re: FF announced
Steve Huff has done an extensive first look at these and is dismissive about the concerns expressed in one or two places about focus peaking and metering accuracy. His comments back up my own experience with peaking, ie it is a guide and has a fairly wide latitude. Indeed with focus magnification I ...

He is much more negative than I had heard from others before, but most of what I have read is by people who are posting about what they have read on the internet and specs. http://visualsciencelab.blogspot.com/2013/10/sony-swings-for-fences-and-ends-up.html Interesting comments by Kirk Tuck, who I ...

Re: FF announced
Seems to me that camera body size is not really an issue for serious landscape photographers, who will be carting lenses including a tilt-shift, a tripod and, of course, Lee filters, . That surprises me. Certainly, if you are taking pictures near a car park you an take a load of equipemtn with you....

Re: FF announced
... and using a partial plastic mount on bodies this price is really a no go. Is this correct? The lens mount shown in DPR's preview looks metallic to me. Seems to me that camera body size is not really an issue for serious landscape photographers, who will be carting lenses including a tilt-shift,...

Over time I've noticed a lot of complaints here about Sony reliability and I imagine other dedicated forums have much the same for their own particular brand (except Leica). There will always be outliers that people will naturally be vocal about. Fair enough, it's very irritating when something goes...

Re: Sony E 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 review
Of course this is not a top grade zoom lens. At this price and size it cannot be. Leica primes can be this small but cost ten to twenty times as much and the tri-Elmar triple focal length (and not zoom) is much bigger. However, as a travel lens it is brilliant and the software correction works well ...

The US is always first but I imagine this idea will spread because it eases both the buyer's and seller's lot.

Re: The a mount is going mirrorless according to SAR
Coincidently, and apparently down to talk of a break-up, Sony's share price rose almost 12% in Tokyo last night. They have risen 92% over the last 12 months in yen terms.
