Re: Blast from the past

Thanks Birma, and I agree with the blast part Sury, I also took a photo of the two USAF guys (they had side arms too I think) that were there in front of their B52, I put my sister in between them as well for the shot. I thought they were there to basically answer dumb questions so I took pity on th...

Re: Landscape 2014

It's a wonder some cattle or sheep don't wend their merry way into that sumptuous looking field there Birma. It's great to see they have been able to accomplish the preservation of such places and that one in particular, it does look rather special.

Re: Turkey trip photos

Hmm it looks like I’m out of touch with the advent of the iron age now, I’m sure I remember reading maybe thirty of forty years ago that iron only came into widespread use maybe about a thousand years ago and hard steel sometime after that but they have obviously done a lot more research since then ...

Re: Flowers 2014

I still think it’s amazing to see a wild ground growing orchid, especially one that flowers so well, nice plant and photo Birma. I was reading this article http://www.users.on.net/~gmcorbin/BOS/Articles/Orchids%20From%20Seed.html to try to get an idea about how orchids would disperse and grow in the...

Re: Turkey trip photos

Hmmm I’m waiting for the news report one day about the American photographer who was trampled by the brothers of the nice Romanian girl…seeing as how the news report about the American photographer who was trampled by the rogue elephant in Botswana didn’t happen. (just kidding, but you do take...

Re: Turkey trip photos

Turkey 1 #326 love the exasperated expression, great job all round Henry an amazing amount of images and diversity encompassed within, I have got to the end of #3 finally, I have no idea how you managed to take so many great images in such a wide area in such a short time without being familiar with...

Re: Flowers 2014

Yes Sury, Birma the TV idea is good too but they are heavier and I think consume more power than a digital display but I guess one could be mounted on the living room wall if a suitable one can be found. I read that now they are experimenting with printing display screens with one of those new 3D pr...

Re: A900 spares readily available?

Oops the availability window link doesn’t work without the original part number search window being there as well. Here is the part number window for the mainboard search. (Part Number A-1565-987-A when entering a part number on the Sony site you have to get rid of the hyphens that are in the servic...

Kaf kaf https://www.servicesplus.sel.sony.com/A ... ArrayVal=0

That sucker is the mainboard but the price is pretty steep at $483 USD, I hope you can get it cheaper than that.

Re: Flowers 2014

I like the flowers with the bees, some nice work in those especially. I wasn’t sure about what to say about the artsy ones Birma, the bokeh is great of course with a small part of the image in focus but to say much about art type photos is kinda out of my area, I was going to suggest a digital photo...

Re: Colors against a black background

Sury reds are just plain bad it doesn’t matter what red, if you want to see what I mean take a photo of a bright clean red like Coca-Cola red or QANTAS red something like those will do, or a post office or fire engine red even a bright red rose is good then print it out. Once printed go put that pri...

Re: Introducing Year of the Alpha – 365 Days of Sony Alpha

I like the light at the end of the tunnel photo, it’s got a sort of unknown quantity or a kind of mysterious alien feel to it. Greg Ps I like the ice cream story too, I didn't even think about the issue before i.e. eating ice cream in a normally quite cold country/climate; I’m not sure I understand ...

Re: Colors against a black background

I like looking at subjects like that to see how well the digital medium depicts such things, and they are quite dramatic and well taken but I still have my unresolved complaint about red, you can't get a real red red if you know what I mean, you either get a pink toned red or an orange toned red but...

Re: Photos with evidence of the photographer

Thanks Henry and Birma, it was just a bit of fun using the ‘Person of Interest’ theme, I wasn’t sure if either of you had seen it, it’s a popular show here from what I understand, I quite like it myself. (I wasn't happy that they killed off Det. Carter though)

Re: Blast from the past

I’m reading the history of Kelly airbase that Henry found and it’s quite interesting, it’s going to take a while to finish so I might have to go back and do that later. I have a few photos of the B52’s when they were here that time, it was a memorial service for the battle of the Coral Sea if I reme...
