Re: Shirakawa-cho Doronko Matsuri

I guess it depends on your definition of 'neat'..

Love the shot of the gent falling into the mud. I love to see that such traditions are still practiced..

Re: Landscape 2014

Love the lavender Andy. The lighting is perfect, and the subtle crepuscular rays in the sky really add to the image. :D A couple from Big Bend again https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2936/14458689299_22d4aea0d3_c.jpg Tuff Canyon II by JohnLeBlancII , on Flickr https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3855/144586...

Re: Exhibit Portrait shots

Nice work everyone.. I don't do too much portrait work, but here are a couple from me... The first is from a few years ago in New Braunfels TX, at Wurstfest. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7411/11030216176_77e39f40ed_c.jpg Wurstfest Wink by JohnLeBlancII , on Flickr And one of Ian from last year.. Re: Photos with evidence of the photographer

Hefay- Love the shot and the story.. Henry.. I'm sure they have 'detailed files' of you now.... This was from our recent trip to Big Bend National Park. I saw my shadow on the ground, and took a shot... It was kinda boring, so I lifted up my left arm in this pose... KB suggested that I was singing.....

Re: Cruise Ships

Nice series Ossie... I've been on a cruise before, and those ships are truly impressive.. I envy the person on the jetski.. That must have been awesome to be that close to one of those behemoths on such a small craft.. Andy.. It wasn't so claustrophobic outside of the cabin, but the smallish cabin t...

Congrats to your wife and her cousin for completing the walk, and raising so much money for the cause. I like your 'best shot' play on words BTW.. :D
Their shirts are great too...

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots

Sury. To tell the truth, I don't know. This cemetery is on the edge of the French Quarter, and I don't know how much it may have been damaged during Hurricane Katrina... Having said that, there are many tombs that seem to receive regular care and maintenance, and some seem to be in a rather poor sta...

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots

Beautiful shot Mark.. Perfect timing with the crashing wave. Was this from your Madeiran holiday as well?

This is from the St. Louis Cemetery No 1 in New Orleans.

Re: Insects...

Thanks Sury... :D I do love the bokeh of the 70-200G. I still crave the STF though... Maybe after I get a Full Frame... And a super wide angle for the IR rig... Oh... And Ian's college tuition... Can't forget that! I really came to appreciate those who take pictures of such small things in the wild....

Re: Turkey trip photos

Great series Henry. I especially enjoyed the 9fish-9rect. comparison. On a trip to New Orleans a few years ago, I was without my Sigma 10-20 but had the Rokinon 8mm Fisheye. I do love the cool distortion of the fisheye, but there were times I really missed the 10-20. I learned a bit having been forc...

Re: Insects...

This little Neon Skimmer (Libellula croceipennis) I think, was kind enough to hang around while I was waiting for a better sun position for an IR shot...
I'm not sure about the name, feel free to correct me.

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots

Thanks, and great story Jeff... I like the Anglicized spelling... Your are correct that the second is an IR shot. The last one is as well. I've loved IR for years, but I recently had an NEX5-N that I got at a steep discount converted to IR. The NEX body is small, and easy to carry along with my othe...

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots

Richard- Very nice reportage set. I like the first one, with the bored looking woman and the pram against the fantasy background. The shot of the dish is incredible, a chilling Cold War reminder. I assume it is disused... Mark- Great dock shot. The B/W makes it very dramatic. Hefay- I always like go...

Re: Let's post some panoramas

I thought about it, but I like the somewhat mysterious aspect it adds... The day was misty/rainy, and I wish, for that shot, that the distance was a bit more foggy/mysterious..
