"Programmed 5400 Flash".
I found out this link - http://www.voitzsch.net/flashconv_en.shtml A Cheap Flash modification for 5400 Flashes that makes them compatible with Minolta Digital Cameras, with almost full capability - apart from W/L HSS. I have two 5400's: one XI and one HS. Naturally, I find much interest in convertin...

There is one reason why I don't like the MS: Price.
When I get a 2gb Ultra II MS card for ,ore than the price of a 4GB Extreme III card, and that's basically the same with every card maker, It's definitely no surprise that I'll prefer the CF everyday. Although, now that prices came down a bit, I'll probably buy anyway an MS Ultra II 2GB as backup car...

Never used the Mirror, but
I did focus on the minoltas with a f6.3 lens, and it worked without a hitch. I understand that people do focus with the 18-250. When I bought the Minolta Film 7, AF systems were supposed to work down to 5.6, but the 7 had no problem at all focusing a 6.3 lens, although that lens was slllllowwwww.

I have a Cheapo one.
Actually, serves most of the time when I'm not taking pics as a toy for my little daughter...
Seriously, it helps in specific conditions - mixed light (to a point) or when the direct light source is too small to accurately measure w/o the cap. Not critical, but helps.

Do silverfast/Vuescan produce better results
Than minolta's own scanning software?
I have the 5400II and I'm considering a different software, but I'm not sure.

Re: Shameless Wish-List Fun
AFAIK, Minolta had this ability for years. Since sony still has the 500/8 Mirror AF lens in production, I have no reason to think it's any different with sony.Vivec wrote:Ah, I would like to see a new a700 with:

My wishlist, or things i would've liked to see in my A700:
1. Lens calibration. 2. mirror lockup option with everything. 3. shutter blind (Hey, my father's Konica T3 Autoreflex from the 70's has it!). although the current situation is acceptable and just minor inconvinence. 4. Writing RAW to CF and Jpegs to MS or vice versa. Also support for MS photopro for...

I'll be very interested,
when someone will provide a comparison of the Sony 58 and the Metz 58, Including W/L capability, of course. The Metz has the additional promise of firmware updates, and the no-pre-flash mode which is a great plus for me (although, in effect, It's the same technology that my father has used with his ...

From a non-scientific trial it looks good.
Saved it (NR off, Saturation 0, ISO 3200) as my MR1 setting.

I Don't have the problem, and hope I won't.
neither does another friend of mine who has an A700. It seems that this thing/problem is quite rare.

Another thing,
I've noticed that they have been more selective lately - more of my slides (5400 scanner) get rejected, even those who in the past were accepted when uploaded ALONE.
