Re: An Interesting Dilema For The Future

I have pared down the number of cameras to the Nikon D750, the Sony RX10 plus the A7r and A7r II. So basically to two kits depending on what I am doing. My chief "problem" is over the years I have accumulated a lot off glass that I have been reluctant to part with, but I know it would be s...

Re: An Interesting Dilema For The Future

Being an old school SLR type I think I might be having problems with the notion that a whole raft of traditional camera gear can be replaced by a single fixed lens camera.Even after having had the RX10 for some time. Probably possible in that I am definitely a low EI type of photographer. But I will...

An Interesting Dilema For The Future

I have the A mount 70-400 lens which I use mainly on one of my A77 cameras when I need to go longer. I was considering buying an A6300 if there is no higher end A mount APS camera in the offering. But now things have got somewhat muddled for me. Now I could buy the new E mount 70-300 zoom lens and s...

Re: LA-EA2-like adapter for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc. lenses?

You would think that Sony would have to had developed a new AF focusing unit for A mount cameras to make an improved adapter possible. And yet apparently Sony keep on postponing the release of the A99 II or whatever it will be called. Personally if I have to continue with using A mount cameras for a...

Re: trade in the 57 for an A6000

The A6000 and A6300 aren't going to go away so there will be a couple of APS E mount choices for the foreseeable future. What happens to the A mount cameras is a cause for concern, especially for those with money invested in lenses and the fact that companies like Tamron are still introducing A moun...

Re: trade in the 57 for an A6000

Of course we all self justify our own decisions - especially the expensive ones, but having used the Nikon D750 for a few weeks it does justify to me how good the A7r II has become. The D750 does deserve its reputation of being a quality general purpose camera at a decent price. But if say Sony or S...

Re: trade in the 57 for an A6000

Trolls, disappointed Sony uses or those who simply misunderstood the question ? There seems to be a lack of technical knowledge being displayed on DPR by some very shrill critics. Some of Thom Hogan's recent comments on Nikon management will make for more corrective views. Yes IBIS and OSS can be us...

Re: Not Sure About New Fuji

As long as Sony only designs Nex style APS E mount camera I can't see how any of them will have IBIS. As it has become uncertain what Sony will do with its A mount cameras, I have been hoping for an A7 style APS camera but with the performance claimed for the A6300. I would like a camera that could ...

Re: trade in the 57 for an A6000

I'm one of those who regards both Fuji and Olympus as being over priced but that is another story. I suspect many of the APS buyers simply buy the 1 or 2 lens kit and that is it. I have a number of A mount lenses so I have never really bought any of the E mount lenses, so I am at the other end of th...

Re: trade in the 57 for an A6000

Sony USA has special at the moment on the LA-EA3 for USD 98 which is about as cheap as it gets. Not sure what import fees and tax would make that for you.

Re: trade in the 57 for an A6000

I have a copy of the A mount 18-135 zoom as well. It may not be the all signing, all conquering super zoom but I do find it very convenient for a lot of general duty photography, so if you can pick up a Sony EA adapter at a good price you should probably consider keeping this lens.

Re: Not Sure About New Fuji

Fuji just don't have the volume of lens sales to match either Canon or Nikon so that their production costs are spread over a much smaller number of lenses. Also the Fuji X mount is only 3 years old so they are paying very much modern coasts when Canikon have lenses that have been around for much lo...

Re: trade in the 57 for an A6000

You are not likely to pick up better primes than the Sigma's at anything like the same price. Convenient size as well. I have noticed that the Sigma's have been disappearing from some stockists shelves and this could mean simply a distributor shortage or that Sigma has ceased production. If you have...

Re: trade in the 57 for an A6000

I think we need some more information before being able to make suggestions to you. What sort of photography interests you, are your interests general or more targeted to specific interests ? What lenses do you currently own and are you planning on replacing or renewing any over the next couple of y...

Re: Not Sure About New Fuji

I'm not sure that pricing is rational full stop when it comes to new releases. Fuji and Nikon are both introducing their new cameras at a similar price but I would suspect that there is a larger market demand for the Nikon D500 even if you can buy two D7200 for the same money. Or for about AUD 1700 ...
