I have an Alpha 100 and mostly use a 28-135 Minolta lens. It is sharp and contrasty and appears to have little distortion. How does the GIMP photo editing software compare functionally with Photoshop? Photoshop is clearly better presented but are they functionally similar?

Thanks very much for the advice.
But I read it too late for the visit so used the on camera flash but mostly no flash.
Results mixed. Depth of field was a big problem!
Will go back with the benefit of the advice.

Is there a plugin for CS? If so where can I get it? Googling has not found me anything and the Adobe and Sony sites are not helpful in this respect.

Jettec inks in our Epson 950 managed to leak and ruin the printer. They are about the best quality third party make, but there is still a big risk.
