Thanks! Another Question.
How do I know if I moved the Pitch and Yaw screws too much? (I tried to move them all the same amount. so I guess it is a theoretical question. I'll ask any way, just to be sure). I mean, if I move the 'main' screw too much, the pic would be out of focus, plain and simple. but how could I know if I'...

Thanks!
Also, the focus is quite fast, at least on my Minolta 7 & 5 (Film) and sony A700.

Nice to hear. So the Sony IS Capable of shooting f/8 with AF
Not only with the 500 mirror. Just one question - David, How would you rate the 28-105 for the A900? I have one (not A900, the 28-105...) And wonder how good it'd be optically, and especially how better is the 28-135.

Wow. If that lens is better than the 11-18,
It would give a fair fight to the rest of the class- and is very light lens, lighter than the Sigma 10-20 I own. Seems Backpackers just got their Ideal W/A landscape zoom.

Interesting thing I found testing the 85/1.4 Today:
When I focused and shot immidiately (all shots @1.4 under warm fluorecent light, Color temperature around 2500K/M4) the camera misfocused a bit more than when I waited half a second after the red focus confirmation light appeared. Same result with another lens. Am I mad or does the focus get better ...

David - If you read this, a question please.
I just calibrated the focus on my A700, testing it with a Minolta 85/1.4 and 50/1.4 (My brother just bought the former in mint condition. What a lens!). Anyway, It seems that I suffer from ever-so-slightly misalignment of the sensor, towards the right. While it has almost no effect in focal lengths ...

Interesting finding from the 16-80:
I bought the Hoya HMC, and it vignetted at 16mm. I searched the local camera stores, and found out that the Sigma EX is MUCH thinner than the Hoya. So I bought it, and voila - no vignetting. And it isn't all that much expensive too. Seems to be very good optically.

has anyone seen a review of the Tamron 18-250 vs. 18-270?
I'd be very interested. I'm into buying one of those two in several months to serve as an all-in-one backpacking lens. If the IQ would be better, I'd go with the 18-270. If it would be similar (or worse, of course) I'll go with the lighter 18-250. I understand that the 18-270 is shipping, but didn't...

Not very surprised.
My 7 (Film) has fast AF, and the Sony A700 seems to be no worse - actually, on the slow Tamron 28-200XR, it seems that the Sony is a bit faster.

David, How did you do it?
I made a manual adjustment using the set screws on my A700. It was a very fine adjustment that was needed - barely 1/12th to 1/6th of a turn - but it made a big difference to full aperture wide angle shots. I read some article about doing it, but the bottom plate seems strongly in place, so i was a...

OK, Let's take this logic a step forward:
The A900 Is not all that much worse (if any) than medium-format. The G-10 is not worse in many conditions than Medium format. the Fuji F-31 is better in many conditions than the G-10. then Surely the F-31 is not worse than a Hassie H3! Anyone wants to trade? :D Seriously, though, the A900 holds, fro...

Several years ago, Popular Photography magazine
Had "How to shoot X" section each month. One month the subject was "How to shoot kids". The protests were so loud, the magazine apologized next month for the wording.

"Programmed 5400 Flash".
I found out this link - http://www.voitzsch.net/flashconv_en.shtml A Cheap Flash modification for 5400 Flashes that makes them compatible with Minolta Digital Cameras, with almost full capability - apart from W/L HSS. I have two 5400's: one XI and one HS. Naturally, I find much interest in convertin...
