Re: Challenge 7: “Right Around That Corner!”
I spent about 2 weeks in old Istanbul back in the 70’s when travelling around Europe and points there East. Fond memories loved the History and sounds and sights. Hi WestCoast, :D Nice to hear that you know Istanbul even though it's more about the old times. I'm sure there's a lot that's changed if...

Re: Challenge 7: “Right Around That Corner!”
Hi, :D Finally, I was out to take some fresh photos today. Today's a special national holiday in Turkey and everyone was out and about which was nice to witness. :) My contribution to the challenge is from a popular spot in Istanbul, the Ortakoy district where people of Istanbul love to shop and eat...

Re: LENS:New Photojournalism Blog in The New York Times
Hi Greg, :D I understand. :) Because these new cameras are offering a lot of mystery and a tad of disappointment for not offering the 'anticipated' for the time being, there's a lot of turmoil running around. Personally, I probably won't be buying any of the three new bodies as I'm waiting for somet...

LENS:New Photojournalism Blog in The New York Times
Hello all, :) If you haven't seen it already, I think you may find it interesting and enjoyable to visit the new blog by the New York Times on Photojournalism and most importantly on photos and photo-shooting experiences by many photographers that work in different premises, like the White House or ...

Re: To crop or not to crop - that is the question
Hi,
I prefer the uncropped version because I believe the foreground is very rich with elements that tell the story of that region and the surrounding environment.

Re: Blossomville
That's one remarkable blossom Jbtaylor!
There's a wild appearance about it, yet still very sweet with such pink hues. The macro close-ups make filaments look like fire flames.
Congratulations to your wife for tending them and to you for the photos.

Re: Blossomville
Hello Greg, :) That orchid indeed has white blossoms that resemble tiny white doves in flight. Lovely... You're correct that quinces are mostly processed to make jam or a kind of sweet dessert. It's very healthy and has a sour and sweet taste at the same time which is delightful when cooked as a des...

Re: do you think this pic works
Nice photo gio67, :D I also support your judgement that the first version is better; I think that the uppermost shade of blue in the sky and lowermost of the waters make a strong match which create the illusion of being mirrored does the trick here, whereas in other circumstances the cropping would ...

Re: Blossomville
Does this fit? Hi, There are no rules to 'fit in' Dr. Harout. :D Nice close-up! But I've got to say, our dandelions haven't gotten to that phase over here, they are still blooming. David; Really lively greens your herbs are growing into. Very appetizing looking with that texture layout and a neat i...

Hi, The 'wild minis' that grow on their own devices in the corners of the garden. This time it was the Tamron 90mm F/2.8 macro doing its part. :) Yildiz http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/3213/white3cr850.jpg http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/6581/pinkcr850.jpg http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/64...
