Re: POLL: How much do you use the video function?
Of course they are targeting the majority; they are not in it for doing favours for the minority. The A-33, 55 and NEX were all aimed at mass market, and it worked for them. The A 580 was aimed at people who wanted a DSLR, now when the A-77 or what ever it will be called that may be aimed at an even...

Re: POLL: How much do you use the video function?
If I had the A-55 or NEX it would be, checked to see if was ok, then most probably never again as I have with my A-580 far to busy taking stills, that is if our weather starts to improve.

Re: Birds 2011
Kevin Barrett's duck shot is of a female Northern Shoveler Thanks! Googling the terms though, I find that most such birds have a lighter colored bill. Are you certain? Hi I hope you don’t mind me saying, where I go to the wetlands trust, birds from all over the world are there as well as the wild b...

Re: Birds 2011
The hardships we suffer for our hobbies I don't blame you; just put a 70-400 G on order myself.lugging that camera equipment around was a pain in the ass. I think I will sell the 300mm and converter and buy the Sony 70-400mm. Should lighten the load a bit.
Nice shots by the way.

Re: Birds 2011
Great picture Caporip with super detail - the Starling does have wonderful plummage when you see it still and close-up link this. I Agree, beautiful, many think just another Starling, the iridescence within the plumage makes it one of natures stars. Cracking image, (I must get that 70-400  ) ...

Re: Birds 2011
Super shots, the 70-400 is a cracking lens and on my “wants” list.
Club photo shoots are a very good way to do the bird “portraits” our local “birds of prey” centre charges far to much, if you can get a good deal well worth it.

Re: condensation problems
The shots of rum sound good, only one problem with that, after a few shots of rum you know what happens.

Re: condensation problems

condensation problems
May I pick someone’s brain here? I like photographing my tropical butterflies etc they are in a heated and very humid place, if I go in from the cold and get out my gear the first thing that happens is misting on and in lenses. I do use Silica gel in the storage and in my bag but I would like a way ...

What I would like in the 700 replacement.
What I would like in the 700 replacement. If it is not to be a DSLR and almost definitely so, one thing would make me look at it with a view to a purchase, is the size, if it were very small and a battery grip could not be fitted I would give it a miss as I did with the A-55, and went for the 580, m...

Re: Birds 2011
Ha ha looks like you two missed it, there is one in the second shot....see it? (psst it's right in the centre) :D Greg ps. Some the other birds 'swim' under water as well, especially marine ones, I've often wondered if they are re-evolved penguins or are they birds that are evolving in that directi...
