Re: Birds 2013

The light situation looked challenging on that first one. he looks as though he's just had a bath and is possibly de-miting. We had some siskins visit last year but it rare we see them in the garden. And the parrots are pretty early! Ours our 'flirting' but I haven't seen them start to build yet. So...

That'd be 'Planet Imagination', then? A shame we don't visit it more as adults ;)

Nice use of crucial DOF, there.

It's a wonder that something so tiny has the strength to peck into a hard peanut, or they might be a softer variety maybe, keep up the good work looking after them Pat, even such incredible survivors that members of the bird kingdom are can do with a little help now and then. :D Greg They have help...

Re: Birds 2013

Snow owls. And more BOPS (Birds of Prey) . I must admit the latter BOPs look a little sad. Are they in cages? Here's one of mine. I don't often take 'Feeder Shots' but my birds probably rely on us feeding them so this image is a true reflection. Apart from feeding them they are free to come and go a...

Re: Let's post some panoramas

My daughter holds an old pentax camera: Marcell Introducing her to photography in the classic way? A good idea to let children play with old cameras. Think I'll do that with my Grandson, later on ;) Yes, we have lots of Canadian Snow Birds in Hawaii (and Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Florida, etc.). ...

Re: Night Sky

I have been fighting the temptation to post this one, though of poor quality even by my own standard, what is exciting to me about this shot is this is my first attempt at wide field astrophotography. This is a 5 image + dark frame stack using DeepSky Stacker. It was taken from my backyard, on a tr...

Hi Pat, the picture with the calves is my fav :) Check out the Farming Life group on Flickr; it has some very nice pictures of this type. Will do Birma! My OH is really enjoying agricultural shots with the A77 so I'll pass on the link to him, too.His are mostly for stock but you can just tell when ...

Re: Who said you can't do a road trip in Hawaii?

Wonderful. What I said on your pano - I want to go there! I like the shutter speed on the waterfall - not too 'detergent foam' - you can still tell it's water but it has a sense of movement, too. :)

Re: Let's post some panoramas

Now there's a pano well worth looking at large! Great work and great framing/subject. I'm sure there's a plot to get me to go to Hawaii (fat chance) as one of my Canadian friends is there now. It looks an amazing place with the active volcanoes and black lava flows. If I win the lottery........... Pat

Re: Image Manipulation

Thanks jbtaylor :) I got to thinking that maybe there is a place in this day and age to get back to realism in some small way, so maybe instead of a ‘Photo art’ forum we need a ‘boring as hell’ forum for some to play in occasionally. Maybe DK could post a warning label header or footer that says ‘Be...

B/W Conversion

A side road off the road between Hebden Bridge and Howarth. This is the area in Yorkshire that 'Heathcliffe and Cathy' from 'Wuthering heights' would have run around in shouting each other's names ;) Howarth is where the Bronte sisters lived with their Parson father. Usual adjustments plus some dodg...
