Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....
When I say PJ photojournalist that means press snapper too and yes they use flash constantly. To assume anyone who works as press just takes sports shots is a little off the mark in fact the sports stuff is niche compared to the other shots. BTW there is one thing the camera industry should do but ...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....
Five years Barry... I say in 5 years Sony will be #1 in FF sales world wide. You are right about the adapters, though I'll bet you lunch that this E mount will have the best adapted lens performance of all. It's logical if they are trying to get canikon users to flip. ;) And SERIOUSLY; what sport ph...

Re: Sony announces new A9 in New York....
The A9 is CLEARLY aimed squarely at the professional photo journalism market. Meant to compete with the D4/D5 and 1DX/1DXII and do so at a couple thousand dollars less while offering MORE functions and features, as well as superior performance. Remember, Sony has been developing this camera for the ...

ALSO.... It also features an ethernet connection( ? ) and dual card slots and a joystick. All buttons are programable. Battery life is estimated to be 2.2 times current battery life and a grip with 2 batteries will be available. Able to focus down to 3 feet, the new 100-400mm GM will have OSS and is...

Re: Sony A-99 11
As long as you don't need aperture control and autofocus when shooting video, the A99II is nearly perfect in every respect.

Re: Sony A-99 11
For the price they are asking there is little logic in the stripping away of features on the D7500. And it is an ADDITION to their line-up; not a replacement for the D7200. And here's the thing; D500 sales are below projections and they have dropped the list price already. Is this what desperate com...

Re: Sony A-99 11
In that respect, Sony is following the "head scratcher" tradition made popular by Minolta. SOME of those Minolta ideas were great; the Minolta host shoe comes to mind, as does AF, a movable LCD, and sensor shift image stabilization. But some of those ideas were just plain crazy like plasti...

Re: I Didn't Buy An A99 Mark 2
Sony marketing is HORRIBLE.
It is closing down Sony stores here in the States. And it doesn't have serious contracts or agreements with the Big Box Retailers like COSTCO or SAMS to move its products at volume. GO FIGURE.

Re: Sony A-99 11
BTW, Paul Nelson says he shoots and has shot a LOT of modern professional and semi-professional cameras. The D810, D750, and D5 from Nikon. But he says his A99 and A77 have created a "soft spot" for Sony, and he could not sing the praises of SLT cameras and Minolta glass enough. I agree; I...

Re: Sony A-99 11
Barry, the f/3.5 barrier is another of those weird choices Sony the Engineering and Design team continues to foist on us A mount users. There is a technical reason for that limitation.... but it can probably be overcome via firmware updates. Yet every single SLT to date has had it. Go figure....

Re: Sony A-99 11
BTW, the file size bottleneck would not be as big a problem with the A99II if Sony had chosen to use XQD cards instead of SD. It just one more of the Sony engineering and design quirks that you were talking about earlier; they put a dual SD/ANCIENT Memory Stick slot in the camera, but NOT the NEW, e...
