Re: Water Shots

Hi Anna,: ) Two lovely shots indeed. The first is amazing with the water caught in motion in the foreground while the green reflections seem to be frozen in time in the distance. I would of like dto see more of the trees lining the water banks. The abrupt and rogue abstract of the rock formations i...

Re: Water Shots

Just been Photoshopping a few more. These two are full landscapes of the river Dart near the spot where the first two shots were taken. Hope you like them. More feedback please. :)

Nice image, ACIP. Where is that?

Henry, have you worked much on #2? I like that one a lot.

Thanks for the feedback. It is Moraine Lake in Alberta. It's a stunning colour and so clear.

Re: Flowers 2010

Sury - Hi - First one hand held - the second one was on a tripod, but as I said the lens was fairly new to me so I was playing around with it at the the time. I've got up to doing manual focus on macro shots that close now - cos as you said a mm movement can make a big difference. Love the sunflower...

Re: Water Shots

Winston - lovely shot. Really my kinda thing. Crystal clear water - looks just like you could go and stand in it on a hot day. I've attached one of mine I did - not as good as that maybe but it has got that clear water in the foreground. Hope you like it.

Re: Water Shots

I didn't mention the rule of thirds actually, I don't think you need to bother too much about rule of thirds in artistic type shots. The rule of thirds is a crock when it's use is obvious I think, I often see people using it as a matter of underlying principal no matter what, to the point of it bei...

Re: Whale watching - what sort of lens?

For a trip like that, I'd invest in a second body--even an inexpensive one--so as to fit and have ready both lenses at once. For a one-lens solution, however, I'd go with the longer lens. There's a lot more water farther away from the boat than right next to it. (You're not going to leave one of th...

Re: Water Shots

I don't mind artsy water shots, the content/composure is maybe a little obscure, but the 'keep em guessing' value is quite good I think. Greg Rules are there to be broken sometimes. If we all did thirds and what the books tell us we'd all get the same view I suppose. Not that I'm trying to be obscu...

Re: Water Shots

Hi Anna, #1 just does nothing for me. Maybe it's just too monotonous with all the green, but hey, that's just me. #2 could stand a bit of stepping/zooming back to show just a bit more context. I do like the smooth flow effect of the water. Dusty It's my green phase obviously! Looking back at...
