Murph, what can I say, those are lovely pictures, and… I just envy you so much (I have to spend one and a half hours in a train each day on my way to work…).

Re: Autumn landscape (A700+CZ1680)
Kevin, Stephen and Gustav: I am very glad you like it! Birma and Kevin, FWIW: I have used CZ16-80mm and Tamron 17-50mm for some time. Both are wonderful lenses. I used the latter mainly indoors and the former outdoors. But at the end of the day I didn’t like the inconvenience of having two (somewhat...

Re: Autumn landscape (A700+CZ1680)
Birma: Thanks for the detailed comments. The light at the top is filtered by a cloud. That’s probably why the shadowy slope (which otherwise would be sunlit) looks somewhat strange.

Autumn landscape (A700+CZ1680)
An autumn landscape from last week: Gorge cut by the Río Dulce [Sweet River] near Pelegrina (Spain). Any comments (especially on contrast, colour and sharpening) are welcome. Javelin: As Winston, I think the composition is fine. The sunlit foreground, though, is a bit empty (I guess you had no hunter horse with you right then to fill the foreground…).

Re: a350 owners
Randy001: First of all, welcome to the forum. There are so many variables in the digital workflow that it’s difficult to determine from what you say why you are getting soft results with your Sony kits. Both the A100 and the A350 Sony bodies as well as the Carl Zeiss 16-80mm lens are generally consi...

Beautiful and deeply emotive adieu to your guitar, David! (Let’s hope things will improve in the not too distant future.)

Funny, Greg! (If English were my mother tongue, you could count on me to join your forces against all the ruffians here who might be secretly thinking of bashing our one and only Sonolta…)

Re: Touch of light
This is not only a beautiful photo (the light draws impeccably the main elements of the composition), Dr. Harout, it is also a moving picture. (I would try some top and bottom crops, just to isolate a little more and thus emphasize the relation between the three protagonists of this ancient story: t...

Re: beechuts
Lovely beech huts, Mike! It seems you have a very good eye for photogenic spots! I tend to agree with Sonolta’s comments about composition and contrast, though. (Also, the WB looks slightly bluish-greenish on my monitor.) But your photos always catch my attention. Thanks for posting them.

Re: Andromeda Galaxy with the A900
Greg: Yes, it was Hubble who finally demonstrated that Andromeda was an external galaxy (different from ours). That was back in the 1920s.

Re: Andromeda Galaxy with the A900
Greg: Interesting information. Let me add (or rather, emphasize) that the Andromeda galaxy is visible to the naked eye, so it could be observed (and most probably was observed) even by our prehistoric ancestors. It was well known many centuries before the great Messier. From Wikipedia: “The earliest...

Javelin: I also like your two pictures. The beautiful directional light enhances both compositions. (Perhaps I would try a crop in the first one so that the pumpkins filled the frame, but, who knows, perhaps I would abandon the idea after trying it…)

Curious and beautiful building, Dr. Harout! If it was not for the metallic dome, I would have thought it was the old mausoleum of an ancient warrior…
