As a stills photographer I am trying to adopt, and from what I have seen I do not worry about the future evf technology.

Re: A77 EVF - Technical Question

I totally understand that we all post process to different degrees, but I thought maybe the EVF represented a "RAW" type representation or unprocessed jpeg representation of the picture being taken in 'real time' - but it looks to be apples and oranges between EVF and final image, with ca...

Re: A77 EVF - Technical Question

Regarding looking through the A77's EVF in a high dynamic range situation, am I correct in stating that the dynamic range you see in the EVF is exactly the same as the picture being taken in the A77? You don't see excactly the same dynamic range in the EVF as the final image. Still I find the EVF r...

Re: A900 and the future - some questions...

I think waiting for an A99 with the expectation of a substantially improved EVF is probably a waste of time. If Sony knew how to do a lot better, they'd already include it in the A77. Better technology also imply higher costs. I don't think a too expensive A77 would sell very well. We don't know mu...

Re: A900 and the future - some questions...

In this respect I think EVF's are too early, not mature enough and it's mistake for Sony to pursue this path at the expense of optical viewfinders, they're going to put off a significant number of users straight away with their tunnel vision strategy. [ ... ] Sony won't stand a chance with a FF EVF...

Re: A900 and the future - some questions...

The A77 with 70-400mm was very disappointing on subjects identical to those which had worked perfectly with the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 on the same camera from the same position, and also with the 70-300mm G. The images are just so soft, even where there appears to be a hint of correct focused detail....

Re: A900 and the future - some questions...

The A77 EVF is early technology. I would be surprised if not the A9x EVF is much better. Larger, brighter and higher refresh rate. Then this camera would be as good for action photography as any OVF camera. I read David K’s report when he compared the A77 with a top end Canon camera with great inter...

Re: a77 image quality advice, how do I get the best from it?

... Also, I have been doing a lot of research into this angle of lens including medium format options. I now believe there is not any identifiable 24mm lens better than the Sony CZ f/2. David When I got the Zeiss 24 mm I sold my Zeiss 24-20 mm zoom lens, since I most of the time used this zoom at t...

Re: a77 image quality advice, how do I get the best from it?

The Zeiss 24 mm f:2 is my favourite lens! I hope new Zeiss and G lenses are up to this standard! Also, I would like to see a new 85 mm Zeiss lens with SSM and less cromatic abberation at wide aperture settings than the present lens.

Re: a77 image quality advice, how do I get the best from it?

When I got my A900 I was overhelmed by the image quality. After a while I decided to compare the A700 and A900 side by side from 50 x 70 cm and 70 x 100 cm prints. When processed and printed the differences where neglible, also for very detailled scenes like a ship yard. Also, mirror vibration was t...

Re: A77 and flash -- delay with Sony units

I have to agree on this, David. From my tests with Sony flash units (two HVL-F58A ), exposure is excellent! When more user control is needed, I simply use flash exposure compensation for balancing the flash to the existing light level. This wekend I am going to use my A77 a lot with different kinds ...

A77 and flash -- delay with Sony units

I have played around with my A77 and a lot of flashes today. With two HVL-F58A the exposure is great for on board flash and wireless flash. Also, wireless works very well with indirect lightning. Then there is this small delay after the release button is pushed in normal flash mode (flash on the cam...

With an ageing eyesight EVF is sure a friendly companion. (I keep saying this to myself to get adapted more quickly to the EVF  ) People at your/my age are worth listening to! Before receiving my camera I purchased an LCD protector on eBay. It's a nice one and fits very well. I just flip...

Re: Getting used to a77

... I can't see myself being comfortable using such a camera I'd find it a barrier for my shooting style. I think the photographer's shooting style is essential. For me, who mostly decide the crop before putting a preset camera to my eye, the electronic viewfinder is superb. Also, this kind of view...

Re: Question on low light A580 vs A77 (resampled?)?

Mangar - I am happy to hear that. As reading others review of high ISO it seemed that it is worse than 16MP sensor. If you just look at pixel per pixel for unprocessed/default raw converter setting images at 100 % or 200 % on a screen, you might see differences. But what you see might be a result o...
