Re: Another Nut Job
Thanks Valery, Sury, & Yildiz! Yes, Yildiz... the emotions of the children and the dancers as they interact with each other are what I strive to get. I'm glad to know that it comes across in the photos. The dancers are always glad to see the children enjoying themselves. However, sometimes the p...

Another Nut Job
Hi Y’all! I’ve been enjoying everyone’s photos. :D I wish that I had more time to participate. :( Every year during Nutcracker season, the St. Louis Ballet has luncheons (in the theater lobby) for children before the weekend matinee Nutcracker shows. The kids get to meet the dancers in costume, and ...

Muttcracker photo shoot video
Greetings!
Here's a short behind the scenes video of a photo shoot of Dancers and Dogs for the Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
(I didn't make it into the video, but my Mouse King costume of 25 years did. )

Silk Stockings (dance scene)
Old classic dance scenes sometimes get dubbed over with modern recordings of music.
Some are good.
Some are bad.
This one I like.
Someone in the costume department knew how to cut Cyd's skirt. And Cyd knew how to use it.

Re: Photos with evidence of the photographer
Thanks!... and... The girls look immune to your being around and observing them for the most intriguing or unique moments… but I'm not so sure about being likened to chimpanzees, gorillas or orangutans. :D :D Oh my. I just re-read my original comment. Yes, it would appear that I implicated only the ...

Re: Photos with evidence of the photographer
After many years of spending time among the dancers, they’ve grown to accept me and my camera, allowing me to get close enough to observe and document their normal behaviors within their natural habitats without threats to my personal safety. It’s like I’m Jane Goodall… or something. Sig A99...

Re: Photos with evidence of the photographer
Thanks Henry! Yildiz... nice observation. I didn’t realize it until you mentioned it. My body position is really close to effacé. I should have pointed my front foot, turned out my standing leg, and inclined my head before taking the shot. That would’ve been cool. :D I'll remember that next time. Di...

Love ‘em!... and… yeah… WOW Yildiz! Is that Minolta Reflex? Sury Sury, yes, that’s the Minolta/Sony Reflex. I think it’s a shame that it’s been discontinued, now that there are digital cameras with good high ISO performance that will enable you to get a faster shutter speed and use it handheld in lo...

Re: Flowers 2019 - Your Flower and Garden Shots
Hi ya’ll! Love these! This lotus was about 8ft away in a deep pond. I used the 500mm mirror reflex (handheld) to get in close. The Sun had just dropped below the horizon and daylight had diminished significantly. I increased the ISO, but there still wasn’t enough light for such a slow lens and there...

Re: Photos with evidence of the photographer
I like this topic. :) Henry, what's the story behind your last photo??? :D Sig Shooting in rooms with walls covered with mirrors is always a challenge. This is the “I thought that I hid rather well, but forgot that mirrors will reflect the reflections of other mirrors” shot. A99, 24-70 ZA, F 2.8, 1/...
