Re: Challenge #52: birds in flight! Ends April 30th

here's my entry, thanks sury :) Nice one. a550 + min300/2.8 + 1.4xtc Now if only I had one of those lenses but... ...as it is I have added a 2x to my 80-200m f2.8 APO G HSS which is as much as my weakened frame can manage to hold. I have a few disabilities which slow me down and can longer use my B...

Re: Signed up awhile ago, but didn't introduce myself

Kodak Instamatic - never owned one of those but did buy one for a kid sister as part of a kit which included flash-cubes. My first camera was a Kodak Brownie, one of those curvy ones in black plastic. Still have some pic's that I took around Interlaken on a school trip one summer. I did read that th...

Re: Flowers 2013

Thanks Sury :) . I am definitely going through a "back light" phase for flower shots at the moment. Yes that sort of light can add a very pleasing softness to an image. I remember back in the early 1980s doing some portrait work and investing in a range of Cokin filters back then one of w...

Re: Blast from the past

Thanks Sury, I liked those flower shots in your first post on this thread. What species of moth, I think, is that on the mauve flower dipping its wick into the yellow centre? Another couple from Vigland Park, late 1970, all of which were shot on Agfa CT-18 using a Minolta SRT101 and either the stand...

Re: Macro in the Garden

Omega - did you use flash on these as the lighting seems quite harsh? Pat. Sorry if you think I was hijacking your thread. I had no idea it was intended as a personal thread, maybe the title 'Macro in the Garden' rather than 'Macro in my Garden' lead me astray. As for flash, yes. But various forms....

Re: Blast from the past

Nicely "frozen" in time Henry... I recall that in 2001 we were in London twice: Ah! A memorable year. The year I was picking myself up after nearly 'crossed the bar', as we who have been to the sea in ships say, twice in about 36 hours. Shortly after the Hatfield rail crash train sc...

Re: Flowers 2013

Very nice soft color. It has calming effect, with that delicate pinkish color. Thank you, one does not let PS do an Auto Smart Fix on a shot like that, turns almost monochrome with a bluish tinge. Yuk! This one is with Rokinon 85/1.4 and HVL58 flash remote triggered. Very nice. Now if its Lilies yo...

Re: Signed up awhile ago, but didn't introduce myself

Interesting topic Henry. I have fond memories of my early days with 35mm, starting with an Halina Paulette in early 1967, didn't have much cash to spend being in the lower rungs of the RN as an Aircraft Artificer 3rd class at that point (had a hook, killick, badge on one arm), which I managed to wea...

Wildieswife wrote:Today is sunny/showers – but it’s a bit windy. I had to hold the twigs still on the fly shots and I got a tad sodden lying down on the wet grass for the tadpoles.
Did you use a polarising filter for the tadpoles?

Yes, wind can make some subject tricky especially with keeping focus.

...........They were joined by another fly of the same variety. Who knows what was going on - perhaps one was a desirable female? One seemed to be chasing another about. Pat Well spotted, and shot. Re: Blast from the past

One more from that balloon sequence, after which I had a tender neck. I had eight good shots with some of the struggle to inflate. I had dupes made for Lt Adams. Some slight colour degradation on this one in the sky area. http://lionels.orpheusweb.co.uk/MorePics/BBell8.jpg All Minolta SRT101. And no...

Re: Blast from the past

And now for something completely different, again. Dawn, 29th November 1970 and HMS Ark Royal is steaming at 8 knots to maintain zero wind over deck and as close to southern shore of Malta as deemed safe by the Captain the late Admiral Sir Raymond Lygo KCB (a real gent BTW), well pushing things a bi...
