Thanks for all that information. The Tamron 17-35 is still listed in price engines here.
I'm hesitating with the Minolta 20/2.8. Prices are similar. Both are easy to find (maybe because of the new ZA 16-35).

Konika Minolta or Tamron?
Recently I saw a few 2nd hand KM zooms (17-35/2.8-4D & 28-70/2.8D) sold at the same price as brand new Tamron equivalents. Are the KM versions really better than Tamron?

Re: New Sigma lenses with HSM and OS
Nikon & Pentax users have access to no less than five Zeiss wide angle primes - Distagon T* 3.5/18 - Distagon T* 2.8/21 - Distagon T* 2.8/25 - Distagon T* 2/28 - Distagon T* 2/35 Why not a single one for Sony? Because they are a completely different pedigree, unconnected with the Sony Zeiss ran...

Re: New Sigma lenses with HSM and OS
I don't mind all the DT lenses, Sony sold tons of A200/300/350 and it's fair to provide more options to those users. But I'm very worried that there is not a single Zeiss lens in these mockups. Nikon & Pentax users have access to no less than five Zeiss wide angle primes - Distagon T* 3.5/18 - D...

Re: New Sony lenses
Really disappointing. I'm eager to buy some lenses but there's nothing for me in this list.
I'm now seriously thinking of buying a chipped M42 adapter and some M42 primes.

Re: My prediction- Bayer sensors limited lifespan
CCDs were very crappy at the time of the RD-175.
Another design where you don't have a classical mirror&prism might fit in a DLR-sized camera (maybe with a different shape).

Re: My prediction- Bayer sensors limited lifespan
I'm not very comfortable with the Bayer filter because I feel that the picture is actually upscaled three times (each Red/Green/Blue sensor is shared among three pixels http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/camera-sensors.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). With today...

I'd like one of the big three to buy Voigtlander, it had many great designs that went discontinued.

Re: New Trends
Where does this leaves Zeiss? I'm sure that Sony has exclusive on their brand when it comes to AF 35 mm lenses, camcorder, and P&S lenses. Kyocera contract with Zeiss will expire in not that distant future, so Zeiss will still be able to sell Contax lenses, or just the name, to others. I don't ...

Re: What is the right ISO for A700?
Just to be clarify...If you are not using a flash 1/15 and even 1/30 will be will not eliminate motion blur if the subjects move (ie: head turns, coughs, moving arms, legs, hands, etc..). It is not the wide angle lens or the SS that allows the use of a slower shutter speed in this case, it is the b...

I think it's time to realize that you live in a globalized world. Both Mercedes and BMW have factories in China now. Zeiss is no different http://www.zeiss.com/C1256A770030BCE0/WebViewTopNewsAllE/CD31A4823B10183DC1256E8C00401521?OpenDocument" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; C...
