Re: LR5 v. LR4 - anyone tried the new version?
I have been using LR4 and Elements 9 until recently. Saw the Adobe CC offer of LR5 and Photoshop CC at £8.57 a month and could not resist. As LR5 is so good I really do little in PS to RAW images other than checking Auto Tone and a little Shadows/Highlight plus contrast. Find removing dust and blemi...

Re: Rumoured Sony Sensor Developments
For those who are interested, here is another post rated SR5 by SAR I find interesting, not because I wish to get into FE, but the "spread" of the technology to A and E systems. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-alpha-pro-e-mount-camera-at-cp-in-february/ 1) First of a complete new genera...

Rumoured Sony Sensor Developments
I am sitting tight on my A58/NEX-6 and NEX-5N cameras as well as my RX100 awaiting sensor developments, which will give me a wider DR range than present offering. The A6000 is tempting as is the RX100III for me. However, what I possess at present is definitely good enough compared with current upgra...

Re: Latest from SAR re A-mount future releases
Another lowly rated rumour on SAR, which could be true bearing in mind the current Sony thinking. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr3-only-the-a7x-and-a9x-line-will-remain-tilt-shift-lens-coming/ Rumors from Russia disclose some possible scenario for the future A-mount development. A source who claim...

SAR SR3 rumour on NEX-7 Replacement next year.
This rumour has a low rating, but does not sound impossible since Sony are focussing on the premium market. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr3-very-first-a7000-rumors-nex-7-successor-has-4k-and-18000-shutter-speed/ I have no interest in upgrading to the A6000 as I do not think there is enough in thi...

Latest from SAR re A-mount future releases
http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr4-what-i-heard-about-the-a-mount-future-so-far-going-pro-slow-release-cycle-lenses/ While E-mount news and rumors are pretty reliable and stable the A-mount future is quite more…unpredictable. The last couple of weeks I got in contact with as many as source as possib...

Re: Photokina 2014
Reference Barry Fitzgerald's comments above, not really defending Sony. For my part I have "read the leaves" and sold my A550 and 580 on ebay. I keep my A58. Not a bad camera, but most of my photography is made with my RX100 as I have it with me most of the time. For video I now use my NEX...

Re: Photokina 2014
According to Mr Aoki "4) “we have a 40% market share in the mirrorless segment” (on SAR). So it is clear that Sony see the profit opportunities in mirrorless rather than trying to slug it out with CAN/NIK in the A mount segment. Wait for the suggestion that A-mount lens owners ditch their A-mou...

RX100 replacement options
Been looking for a decent price for Sony's RX100III and still looking. Up pops two contenders to widen my choices. Panasonic DMC-LX100 (Seems like *X100 is popular). Canon Powershot G7 X. What to think of these imposters designed to snatch business from Sony's RX100III? Well, the Pana is a let down ...

Re: RX10 looks interesting
I love competition! So do I Bakubo. I am not going to pay £699 here in UK for the RX100III although I desire this camera. I am waiting for at least a £100 price drop. I had the LX2, 3 and also 5 and passed these on for the RX100. Hugely disappointed when LX7 came out with the same 10Mp size sensor....

Re: Remote Control App for a58
I have the A58, NEX-6 and RX100, which all can accept apps to improve use. I don't have a "smart phone" yet, but I am thinking of purchasing one. I wonder if any users of the above cameras can recommend suitable phones to purchase that will work well with these cameras and good application...

Re: A77 II has landed!
Barry Fitzgerald wrote So it's not you can't use the jpegs on Sony, you can get respectable results from them, it's just they refuse to listen to people who want a choice. If you want super plastic NR on jpegs fine..jpeg NR high will do you. Those of us who don't like tons of NR don't have a choice....

Re: A77 II has landed!
Unless I need a quick shot to be able to send across the internet then I don't see the need for jpg files out of the camera. But hey, that's just me . It is still interesting to know what you jpg guys think of the files out of camera I guess . Interesting thoughts by Birma. When I acquired the firs...

Re: A77 first thoughts and impressions
Last edict from Barry Fitzgerald I read before noticing this new thread was That's more acceptable price wise. Though I have to reign in my spending a bit I would likely get one at some point and then I find he would appear to have purchased a (new or used?) A77 MKI. I am pleased he seems to be quit...

Re: A77 II has landed!
Back to the A77 II there are more samples turning up..and I'm wondering if Sony's new "multi area" jpeg NR is more akin to "painting by numbers" it looks quite horrible https://www.flickr.com/photos/104766484 ... otostream/ These animal photos look "funny". I don't thi...
