Re: F-stop calculator

No the ISO wasn't 'fixed' per se then or now, but the calculators are all based on 100ISO, the ones that I could find that is, and that might be ok when dealing with film but now ISO is just another variable so I want a calculator that you can enter full stops of ISO (or 1/3rd stops of ISO) into alo...

Re: Introducing Year of the Alpha – 365 Days of Sony Alpha

Good photos, I quite like the Aura shot too, and an interesting description of the reasons behind the fire.

Re: Tiny sensor revenge gallery thread!

I don’t think sneaking up behind a cop and yelling ‘spread em’ is one of your better ideas H. Good night scenes Sury, there’s a head missing on the statue, I wonder if it was made like that, somehow I doubt it, it’s probably been vandalized I reckon. Yes Henry the footwork is almost identical ...

Re: F-stop calculator

Yes of course the camera is a light box in simple terms, my interest is in predictability of the light box and what it’s likely to do in a given situation barring mechanical snafus of some kind, and another interest of mine is trends. I saw somewhere that someone claimed that a conversion of camera ...

Re: F-stop calculator

Yep quite so, but I guess you have to start somewhere, and the baseline is the metering and the derived value the camera started with to calculate exposure, whether that actually matches the value if it was measured independently is another question too. And then there is the different types of meas...

Re: Landscape 2014

Ah so, I couldn't see what they were so I had to ask, it didn't jog any memories about having seen any decorations on them before in photos or the gates.

Re: Oshima in the Seto Inland Sea

I had to get an idea where this Island was so I did a search, it wasn’t all that easy to find there’s a few with the same name but I eventually found the one you were on Henry. The interactive map I found shows all the islands, there must be dozens scattered along that area. http://en.japantravel.co...

I like the ship building shots Henry, and the whirl pools too, I wouldn't like to be in a dingy.

Re: Landscape 2014

I like the rock in the ocean with the shrine scene Henry but what are the vague speckles around the top of the Torii gate.

Yeah I agree that last one is a ripper Birma.

Interesting scenes Valery, it looks like that place has copped a bit of wave action now and then.

Re: Doctor uses Wikipedia for treatment!

As far as I know Land-Rovers have a good reputation here, they’ve been around for even longer than Toyota’s have I think. One thing I remember some saying many years ago was they were down a bit on engine power but that wouldn’t be something that would have gone on for long and it’s certainly not th...

Yeah Birma I dunno where Pat is, she usually pops in when their business is in the off season (if I remember what she said correctly), we seem to be misplacing our best and most respected females lately.

Re: Doctor uses Wikipedia for treatment!

Thanks Birma yeah Land-Rover is popular here too and are very good off road vehicles by all accounts, it’s just that there seems to be more Toyota’s available new and second hand here and the price is usually not too bad, (I kept my old one and just refurbished it, saved on buying a new one) and the...

Re: A77 II has landed!

Pat opened a thread about image manipulation here http://www.photoclubalpha.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7383 and some of us had a bit of a dig and a poke at the subject, it was quite an interesting thread I thought. I think anyone would have to admit that digital imaging is open to vastly mor...
