Re: Siny 16-50 pancake lens on Nex-7?
I've just bought a new one on ebay, forgoing the box and documentation and buying a split from kit one saved over £100-00. I've yet to fully try it out but others seem to be getting reasonable results. As always I shoot RAW and latest version of Lightroom has lens corrections included. Here are some...

Re: MetaBones Speed Booster Adaptor
This does look interesting, but as always I'll wait for some good reviews first. I have the 90, 45 and 24 Canon T&S lenses as well as other full frame lenses. But the thought of retaining something closer to the original full frame focal length has a lot of appeal with wide angle lenses in parti...

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report
Simple maybe but it has implications for the development of A mount if the A99 is a flop sales wise. So we might not care, but it could have a bearing on where A mount goes next of if Sony give up on full frame DSLR type products. People do say good things about Sony, it's just it get lost in the c...

Re: after all these long years of buying cameras and as soon
Right now the D600 is vastly cheaper than the A99 it could cause a loss of users to F mount and more than a few of them. Although I find reports of dust and oil spots on Nikon sensors rather worrying. My son had a D7000 that kept getting oil spots on the sensor and the problem persisted even after ...

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report
Uk photographers should vote with their feet anyway, while the UK price for the body is nearly a $1000 more than it is in the US.

The A580 did not seem to be around for long before it disappeared, the last OVF.

Re: wide angle for nex6
I wonder if we are going to see any more E mount lenses from Sigma soon, the 19 and 30mm must have been a well deserved success for them. A wide prime, say 12mm would be cool and Sigma are also good at ultra wide zooms. But I can't help feeling the enthusiasm for NEX mount lenses has diminished a li...

Re: DPR say A57 RAW images are best in class?
I use a NEX-7 and 5N, In most circumstances I shoot at nothing higher than IS0 400, but found ISO 1600 quite acceptable with the NEX-7. In film days when I rarely went higher than 400ASA and I never thought I was missing anything - that's what tripods are for. Just using the cameras with small NEX p...

Re: ISO equivalent A900 versus D600
"And here is a 100% section - I also sold the quite lovely 28-135mm which produced this. I probably won't find another like it and I only owned it for a month!" But why? I keep lenses if they perform well. My 24-85mm Minolta circular aperture continues to surprise me on my A900, I bought i...

Re: Sony Alpha A99 Field Test Report
I find the A99 rather disappointing, and the trouble is that I know Sony could have and should have done better. Quite like the look, nearly as good as my Minolta 9xi, but looks don't count for much. I really like my Nex 5n and 7, to the extent that I could not be bothered with an A57, A65 or A77 or...

Re: V1.01 Firmware for Nex7 greatly improves shadows
That is very interesting. I wondered also what exactly was meant by wide angle edge improvement? Is this the magenta edge cast that can be seen at certain angles and lighting conditions? Although that mainly applies to third party lenses so can't really imagine Sony being that helpful.

Re: Hasselblad lenses for the E-mount system?
Hasselblad is just doing this to get Carl Zeiss glass back onto bodies with their name on them. Their current line-up of lenses are all Fujis! Can't see the reasoning behind this, but Leica makes a fortune off of boutique cameras. Dusty Yes but Leica cameras look good, these are simply hideous, hav...

Re: NEX 7 + LEA1 + Sony 24./2 Zeiss
That's interesting, I'll check the mount out. I saw some very fine landscapes on the NEX forum of DPreview taken with said Samyang and NEX-7, when I reported that I was not getting satisfactory results with my combo, the photographer said there was always one small same area of the frame that lacked...

Re: NEX 7 + LEA1 + Sony 24./2 Zeiss
The LA-EA1 does indeed seem to not work well with all lenses. My 14mm f2.8 Samyang for instance it a top manual performer on my a900 but looks soft on my NEX-7 via the adapter, the same must be true of the LA-EA2 also, which makes me wonder how viable that would be on a future full frame NEX-9 as Da...
